We have a lot to learn from children. Here are three ways that children live that would bless us to follow in their footsteps: 1. They depend on others (mom, dad, grandparents, siblings, teachers, and many others). Without even realizing it, they live in the humility of receiving help through their support system to become all they were designed to be. 2. They are present in the moment. Their joy is not bound to a future outcome but rather is settled in discovery and being where their feet are. 3. They speak from the heart and are not worried about impressing others. As adults, what would it look like to grow in child likeness? I would say it would look somewhat like receiving help and relying on others, being present in the moment, and being our genuine selves, not worried about how others might perceive us. I am grateful to have learned these lessons firsthand at Original Design from our amazing campers over the the past 4 years!

This past Friday we were able to take our campers and mentors at Original Design to the FireFlies game to get some good time together while watching a great game! Super thankful for one of our Forward Together Donors, Rion and Charlotte Cobb for sponsoring this event!!

This past weekend we kicked off the fourth year of our year-long mentorship program at Original Design! The day consisted of a lot of time for our campers to get to know their mentors who will be walking along side them throughout the various programming throughout the year and beyond. For our March giveback event, Original Design partnered up with Northside Middle School in West Columbia to gift 15 students with Easter baskets! These baskets were filled with food, activities, journals, and a Walmart gift card for the students and their families to enjoy over Spring Break. I’m really thankful for all of our donors who give to help make these kind of opportunities possible along with the great impact Emily Jermstad is having on OD.
