  • ?????????? ????????????: ?????????????????????? ?????????? ?????? ?????? ??????????????????. ?????????? ???????? - ???????? ???????????? ???? ?????????? (二郎は鮨の夢を見る) Magnolia Pictures, 2011 Reviewed by: Yutaka Yamauchi (山内裕), Kyoto University (京都大学), Japan ??https://lnkd.in/efpMpV82 Craft is increasingly being explored as an alternative form of organizing, which challenges the dominant capitalist framework (Bell, Dacin, & Toraldo, 2021; Kroezen, Ravasi, Sasaki, ?ebrowska, & Suddaby, 2021). It is distinguished by its emphasis on meticulous attention to detail, mastery of refined skills honed through years of apprenticeship, and a lifelong dedication to tradition. Craftspeople select the highest-quality materials, irrespective of cost, driven by a deep sense of pride that precludes the acceptance of substandard outcomes. While less frequently studied, craft also reshapes the way individuals relate to one another, particularly in the context of consumption. Indeed, the term “consumer” may not fully capture the dynamics at play. Transactions in this domain extend beyond mere economic exchange; individuals do not simply pay for what they receive. This nuanced relationship with craft warrants deeper exploration—a dynamic that is vividly illustrated in the documentary ???????? ???????????? ???? ??????????. Jiro Ono is widely regarded as the foremost sushi master in the world. His sushi bar, Sukiyabashi Jiro (すきやばし次郎), is a revered pilgrimage site for sushi aficionados. Nonetheless, this appears to be a humble place without pretension, likely the only Michelin Guide three-star establishment without its own bathroom. Patrons must step outside to use a public facility. Over the years, several prominent figures have passed through the doors of Sukiyabashi Jiro. Among them, President Obama once sat across from Jiro and beside the late Prime Minister Abe. Having watched the documentary ???????? ???????????? ???? ??????????—the story goes—President Obama felt compelled to experience the sushi for himself. ... ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Paolo Quattrone, Tammar B. Very proud of Management @ Adelaide Business School PhD student, Nicholas Marzohl for presenting our research at the Melbourne Business School (MBS) last week. Thank you to the organisers, including Alex Newman, Organization Studies, and Organization Theory, for hosting such a valuable developmental event that brought together early career researchers and PhD students.

It was a pleasure for Melbourne Business School to host a workshop for early career researchers and PhD students in organization studies/theory in conjunction with the journals Organization Studies and Organization Theory. I personally learnt a great deal from researchers in another discipline and was heartened to see all the great work done by junior scholars. The future is bright. Markus A. H?llerer Tammar B. Zilber

Thrilled to see our new article in Organization Studies! When do firms harm stakeholders? Our study analyzes 1,346 cases of corporate irresponsibility involving 135 publicly listed companies to uncover key patterns. We show that family firms become irresponsible when under strain, while non-family firms engage in irresponsible behavior when they are doing well. These findings have crucial strategic implications, as corporate irresponsibility damages reputation, brands, and products, with significant consequences for investors.

Last week I had the opportunity to attend a Paper Development Workshop at the Melbourne Business School (MBS) hosted by Organization Studies and Organization Theory. Presenting a working paper to a roundtable of colleagues provided novel insights and stimulated thought-provoking discussion, regarding the theoretical positioning of my current research. What was impressed upon me was the importance of "collegial collaboration". Through the sharing of ideas with colleagues from different theoretical persuasions and areas of expertise, we can elevate our own research to advance management scholarship. I look forward to incorporating the feedback from this workshop to contribute meaningfully to management research. I would like to thank all of the organisers from the MBS, the journal facilitators and all of the PDW attendees for the discussions and insights offered.

My latest publication on Organization Studies (FT50 ranked journal): in which situations firms harm stakeholders? We examined 1346 events of #corporate irresponsibility by 135 stock market listed firms. We show that #familyfirms become irresponsible when under strain, eg cutting corners on safety measures to save costs. non family firms engage in irresponsible behavior when they are doing well, to boost or sustain performance. Strategic importance because irresponsible behavior damages #reputation #brands #products and has negative implications for investors too.
