Oregon REALTORS? was established in 1932 to organize the real estate profession in Oregon. Today it is one of the largest and most influential trade associations in the state, representing over 19,000 members involved in all aspects of the real estate profession. Our members are residential and commercial brokers, managing principal brokers, property managers, and industry affiliates. The work of the Association is overseen by an Executive Committee, headed by the President of the Association and by a 100+ member Board of Directors, representative of 24 local boards and associations from throughout the state.

When mold or the potential for mold comes up in a sale (??????), clients want REALTORS? who understand the issues and know what to do. Yesterday, members from across Oregon learned just that in our class on mold abatement. Now, they’re better prepared to serve their clients when facing questions about mold, abatement, and liability as buyers or sellers. Because mold doesn’t care how fancy your property is. The class was taught by Zachary Goodman, who has worked with Idaho Department of Environmental Quality, and who now manages all the services at Alpha Environmental Services, a consulting and remediation company in Beaverton. ?? ?? Legal demands are just one of the areas clients need to get information about when they’re considering buying rental properties or expanding a portfolio. ?? In this morning’s class, offered as part of membership, more than 100 people took the opportunity to earn CE and learn about laws that affect landlords, such as no-cause terminations, staying in compliance with state and city regulations, and rent control. While never offering legal advice, a good REALTOR? knows that guiding clients to the experts gives them confidence in the transaction and creates the opportunity for community. Chris Fowler, who is a Shareholder in the Real Estate and Business practice groups with Buckley Law P.C., taught the class. He regularly advises clients on both transaction and litigation matters where real estate law is concerned. ?? More than 90 Oregon REALTORS? members took the opportunity to learn about asbestos from an expert on Wednesday, February 12, 2025. The need for asbestos abatement is going to be with us for a while. Zachary Goodman, who taught the class, has worked at Alpha Environmental for 16 years, and before that was with Idaho DEQ and in the environmental consulting sector. Oregon REALTORS’? offered this webinar as an opportunity for members to understand what asbestos is, the associated health risks, regulations for testing, and what do to when it's found. Asbestos can break a deal or be no big deal. Understanding asbestos and its abatement can be key to closing the sale.
