WTC Session Recap ?? Emma Freivogal, founder of Radical Recruits, walked attendees through common employer objections to hiring people with criminal background. She highlighted the underlying bias in many of the arguments against giving a person a second chance. Through small group conversation and larger group role plays she highlighted ways to reframe common objections into strengths of the potential candidate. Who's with me?! ?? Nonprofits are a powerful business structure and deserve equal footing in every aspect of the business world. Nonprofits can be entrepreneurial, agile, and as driven by results as any corporate entity. Our sector can demand accountability, foster innovation, and offer competitive wages to attract and retain top talent. Yet, despite the impact and influence we create daily, nonprofits are often expected to operate with fewer resources, offer less competitive packages, and face the assumption that we’re somehow “less than” our for-profit counterparts. This perception is outdated and limits the potential for real change. Nonprofits are crucial drivers of economic vitality, advocates for social justice, and champions for those without a voice. We bring a unique perspective, bridging the gap between economic and social value. It’s time we recognize the momentum nonprofits inject into conversations around growth, equality, and resilience. John Stapleton - so proud to announce the 2024 Workforce Champion from Lane County this year!

We are thrilled to announce that John Stapleton, Principal of PIVOT Architecture has been named the 2024 Oregon Workforce Champion at the sold-out Oregon Workforce Partnership's annual Working Together Conference, which saw over 500 attendees from statewide agencies, workforce development professionals, and community partners! As a dedicated Board Member for Lane Workforce Partnership and Chair of the Community Engagement Committee, John has made tremendous strides in workforce development. His leadership in initiatives like "Constructing a Brighter Future" and "Team Oregon Build" has driven remarkable progress, with Team Oregon Build now serving 22 counties and facilitating over 11,000 student experiences across 86 schools. Through his efforts, 430 orders have been fulfilled for Construction CTE Classrooms statewide. John's tireless work reflects the very mission of the Oregon Workforce Partnership—helping Oregonians build brighter futures through innovative workforce solutions.
