关于我们
Oregon Values & Beliefs Center (OVBC) is a nonprofit that establishes a new standard for public opinion research. Most research and polling relies on proportional sampling, a methodology that often suppresses the voices of minority and rural Oregonians. Urban hubs like Portland and Eugene instead dominate the findings. OVBC elevates and engages a wider spectrum of residents through meaningful statewide studies that inform future policies, programs, and priorities of lawmakers so they can better represent our state’s populations. We’re committed to stratified sampling that gives voice to all Oregonians without jeopardizing reports from more populous areas. We regularly poll Oregonians on several complicated issues to better understand how their opinions change over time. While the results of these questionnaires remain anonymous, they provide valuable, research-based information to the public policymakers, urban planners, and other organizations to ensure that every Oregonian’s voice is heard. These results show state residents common ground they stand on—together. Because OVBC is nonpartisan, we do not take policy positions. OVBC is the evolution of the Oregon Values and Beliefs Study conducted in 2013 by Adam Davis of DHM Research. Now working independently, Adam launched OVBCas a vehicle through which he can engage with Oregon communities while conducting public opinion research. Through regularly published reports, these studies offer a snapshot of how Oregonians feel as a whole by utilizing insights from focus groups and statistical data from surveys. OVBC seeks to continuously expand its pool of research participants. If you or someone you know lives in Oregon and would like to participate, please visit oregonvbc.org.

People in Oregon recognize the importance of involving the community in educational decisions, although there are different ideas about how it should be done. Community input is seen as providing valuable perspectives and accountability to school decisions. However, teachers, school staff, and other education experts are also viewed as offering important expertise. While Oregonians agree on the need for some statewide standards, they believe that decisions on how to meet those standards are best made locally, considering the unique needs of each school or district. These opinions highlight the need for balanced and inclusive decision-making that respects Oregon's unique communities.
