Picture this: Instead of throwing your worn-down sneakers into the garbage, you put them in your compost bin and watch them biodegrade in just a few weeks... pretty cool, right?! That sustainable future is a very real possibility thanks to Soleic Materials (from our portfolio company Algenesis Labs). Their signature technology (a plastic made from plants that biodegrades at the end of its life) has very practical materials applications, including the soles of shoes.
