  • Northwest Digital Heritage reaches one million digital records of cultural heritage collections available to view online! People around Oregon and the world now have free access to search over one million digitized photographs, letters, documents, and more from around the Pacific Northwest. These historic and cultural materials are available in Northwest Digital Heritage, a website that searches the collections of over 300 regional libraries, museums, and cultural heritage organizations. Northwest Digital Heritage is an online search portal that gathers records from the online collections of libraries, museums, universities, historical societies, and other organizations in Oregon, Washington and Idaho. The site was created in 2021 through a partnership between the Oregon Heritage Commission, State Library of Oregon, and Washington State Library. Northwest Digital Heritage is made possible in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services through the Library Services and Technology Act, administered by the State Library of Oregon and Washington State Library.   • Oregon Parks and Recreation Department is looking for a Natural Resource Specialist 2 – Museum Curator. As a permanent, full-time Natural Resource Specialist 2 – Museum Curator, you will manage and oversee the operations of the Kam Wah Chung Museum and interpretive center. Your responsibilities will include overseeing the museum's artifact and archival collection, managing institutional archives, and handling interpretive programming, as well as the general operations and maintenance of the museum buildings and property. This role involves coordinating resource conservation efforts, ensuring the preservation of cultural resources, and developing engaging interpretive programs for visitors. You will also oversee various projects, provide leadership to staff and volunteers, conduct historical research, and ensure compliance with park policies. The application deadline is March 26, 2025.   • Oregon Main Street (OMS) is now accepting speaker proposals for Oregon’s premier downtown conference in 2025. Oregon Main Street is seeking sessions of 45 to 90 minutes that fit the theme "Dedicated to the Long Game." This theme emphasizes the creation of a vision for how downtowns should look, feel, and function in the long term. Main Street organizations face challenges as they pursue their goals, but with the dedication of local leaders, partners, and volunteers, they can seize opportunities as they arise. Their efforts enhance downtown's function, use, and experiences, bringing the community together to live, work, invest, and play. We invite submissions that underscore the importance of developing a vision and strategic direction to enhance downtown's vitality. This includes building a sustainable organization, engaging all community members, and effectively communicating progress. Proposals can reflect any of the four points of the Main Street Approach: Design, Organization, Promotion, and Economic Vitality. We aim to provide valuable content for all learning levels and share success stories from various community types. Conference sessions are scheduled for Thursday, October 9, and Friday, October 10.
