As strains on EMS services worsen, places like Clackamas County, are "turning to nurse navigation programs to address that burden." These nurse navigation programs connect callers with nurses for medical advice or to help set up an urgent healthcare appointment. Many 911 callers have medical concerns without access to reliable transportation or primary care. By connecting them with these services, they are able to help with their non-life threatening needs, while freeing up EMS to respond to the most serious situations. On November 26, advanced practice providers (APPs) from Legacy GoHealth Urgent Care Clinics filed for union representation with the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB). The 55 nurse practitioners and physician associates have chosen to be represented by ONA. Members of the organizing committee say they were motivated to unionize because of stagnant wages, lack of practice autonomy, insufficient staffing, and ever-increasing productivity demands. The APPs are Legacy employees but a private equity company manages the clinics. The results of their union election will be announced on January 17, 2025. #Organizing #UnionStrong #Labor #OregonLabor #OregonHealth #GoHealth
