关于我们

The Oregon Department of Transportation is an award-winning organization, more than 4,500 employees strong. Together, we provide a safe and reliable multimodal transportation system that connects people and helps Oregon's communities and economy thrive. Transportation in Oregon is a multi-billion dollar investment in our people, our environment and our state. Almost every aspect of life is affected one way or another by transportation. With 96,000 square miles of land, we must have a safe, dependable system — and in Oregon, that includes highways, passenger and freight rail, public transit and non-motorized transportation. Over the past several years, Oregonians have opted to invest in the state’s transportation infrastructure. This commitment to a sound transportation system is creating opportunities for engineers, planners, maintenance and construction workers, information systems specialists, accountants, customer service representatives, inspectors, policy analysts and other knowledgeable employees. Consider a career with the Oregon Department of Transportation. Live and work among tall mountains, surrounded by sandy ocean beaches and clear blue lakes, in the grassy valleys or on the high desert, in the big city or in a small country town. Oregon has it all — just waiting for you to discover; waiting for you to make your mark. For job opportunities, visit www.odotjobs.com or email [email protected]. • Spring showers bring more than just flowers. They can also lead to debris flows on your roadways. Our maintenance staff are out there clearing culverts and blocked storm drains, monitoring slopes, and removing fallen rocks to keep your travels safe and smooth. We've been featuring some of the flooding statewide, but regular maintenance also looks like this. On Monday morning, Maintenance Specialist JD Peterson ran across some muddy water flow across a section of OR 221 (Wallace Road NW) just outside of #Salem and immediately began working to fix the issue. When he returned that afternoon to re-check the site, winds had started picking up so he also moved a fallen tree limb that landed over the fog line a few miles further north on 221. Day-to-day acts like these, are quick and often unsung work - but they add up to the greater safety benefit for all. Our crews routinely find things that need immediate attention for traveler safety - especially with Oregon's diverse and temperamental weather systems. A quick shout-out to JD and our staff who are out statewide spotting, addressing and anticipating issues like these. Thanks for keeping us and our roadways safe for all!

    • After unclogging a culvert opening, muddy water begins to drain away from flowing across Oregon 221 outside of west Salem. An ODOT maintenance vehicle is parked at the location and a residence is perched up the sloped driveway.
    • Maintenance Specialist JD Peterson checks to make sure water is correctly draining to the highway's culvert after he unclogged the entry.
    • Maintenance Specialist JD Peterson moves a large tree limb from where it fell over the fog line of Oregon 221.
  • Dean’s Beauty Salon & Barber Shop is Oregon’s oldest Black-owned salon and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2022. They’ve been in business since 1956. In the early 1960’s, other businesses like Dean’s were removed through eminent domain with the initial construction of I-5. The first two decades of the federal interstate system construction displaced more than a million Americans around the US. In the 1950s and 60s, this construction had a profoundly negative impact on communities of color. The I-5 Rose Quarter Improvement Project is working with and elevating the voices of the historic Albina and Black community in project planning and design to ensure the project does not repeat past harms and benefits the community. • Over the weekend we attended the Portland International Auto & Motorcycle Show to chat with drivers about OReGO and the upcoming REAL ID deadline. What's OReGO? Well, we're pioneering new ways to fund transportation with this pay-by-mile program. OReGO members pay two cents for each mile they drive to help fund safe and reliable roads and bridges. Enrolled members with new electric vehicles, and vehicles with 40+mpg receive a $35 to $115 annual savings on DMV fees. We've been operating the OReGO program since 2015, and it's open to electric, hybrid, diesel, and gas-powered vehicles rated at 20 miles per gallon or better. Diesel or gas-powered vehicles receive a credit on the fuels tax. Curious to learn more? Explore OReGO benefits to learn if this program is right for you: https://lnkd.in/gUAPTGvJ

  • From the outside, ODOT traffic signal engineer Katie Johnson thinks her job might not seem very exciting. But nobody wants chaos in the traffic system and there is a lot of hard work done behind the scenes to keep the transportation system “boring”. “(My job) is different every day, and it’s like a new puzzle to solve,” said Johnson. This Engineers Week, we thought we’d catch up with one of ODOT's many engineers. Johnson hopes to inspire the next generation of engineers to join the work in caring for our state's infrastructure. #EngineersWeek #EWeek2025 #STEM #Engineering #Innovation #FutureLeaders

  • Hundreds of homes and Black-owned businesses were bulldozed through and moved to make way for I-5 in the early 1960s, destroying the community’s cohesion and ability to build generational wealth.
