Automation is the future of security. It can significantly reduce the time you're taking to manage security, which could otherwise take years to handle manually. Pandian Gnanaprakasam, Co-Founder and CEO of ORDR, explains to Hacker Valley Media why this is.

???????????? ??????: I'm not wasting time trying to beach your laptop. It’s locked down with MFA, endpoint detection, and regular patches. Instead, I’m looking for the easiest way in—agentless devices quietly sitting on your network. ?? For example: ?? Industrial systems in factories ?? Medical devices in hospitals ?? Security cameras, badge readers, and more These devices can’t support endpoint agents. They lack basic protections. And they’re often overlooked in security strategies. Our Rise of the Machines Report 2024 shows just how big this blind spot has become—42% of enterprise devices are agentless. Plus, more than 13% of agentless devices not only connect to the internet but also communicate laterally with an average of six other devices, creating extensive attack pathways. ?? ? Colonial Pipeline ? Solar Winds ? Volt Typhon These cyberattacks succeeded with disastrous results by targeting hyperconnected enterprises. Take control of those connected assets with 3 steps: ?? Identify every device on your network ??? Prioritize risk management with mission-critical insights ?? Take actions to remediate and protect critical assets Learn more: https://bit.ly/3Z4LID1

“So… what do you do for a living?” You’d think that’d be an easy question. But when you work in enterprise cybersecurity? Not so much. My parents have no clue what I’m talking about. My father-in-law? I’m pretty sure he thinks I make animations for ads. Honestly, I don’t blame them. Even at work, we’ve struggled to explain what we do. For the longest time, ORDR’s explanation sounded like this: "We empower IT, security, networking, and operations teams at highly complex enterprises with high-fidelity, comprehensive asset inventory and business-focused risk assessment so they can prioritize and reduce their attack surface across IT, IoT, OT, and IoMT assets." It’s not wrong. But unless you work in security, it might sound like nonsense. That’s why I’m glad ORDR’s brand refresh and platform evolution make things a little more “family friendly.” Now, we put it like this: "Companies have a ton of devices — some mission-critical, like MRI machines or manufacturing robots, others random and forgotten, like smart speakers and printers. ORDR helps them see everything in one place, figure out what’s risky, and take action before it becomes a problem." If you’re curious, check out our latest announcement and the refreshed ordr.net — hopefully, it makes it easier to figure out who we are, what we do, and why it matters. (That said… no, what's on the website won't sound exactly like what I wrote above. We do still have to keep up the whole “cool B2B SaaS” vibe ??.) ?? https://lnkd.in/gs3W7diT

IoT security is a shared responsibility. Manufacturers must prioritize secure development, while users need to take basic security precautions like changing default passwords and updating firmware. Without industry-wide security standards, IoT ecosystems will remain vulnerable to breaches, via Svetlin Todorov for FastCompany. https://bit.ly/3QBwOis
