ICYMI, ORCID has assessed ourselves against the Principles for Open Scholarly Infrastructure (POSI). Though we are not yet ready to unequivocally adopt the POSI Principles, we acknowledge the importance of the initiative and we're eager to engage with the group of current POSI adopters and the broader scholarly infrastructure community to further evolve POSI in an open, transparent way. I am honored and delighted to be nominated and elected as a Researcher-Director for #ORCID. ORCID is a community-driven organization governed by an international board of directors. Established in 2012, ORCID aims to simplify the process of connecting researchers with their outputs through unique identifiers. Today, the ORCID registry includes over 14 million researchers worldwide. The ORCID Board reserves two positions for Researcher-Directors, and I am thrilled to join Kalynn Kennon, Head of Data Engineering and Informatics at the Infectious Diseases Data Observatory (IDDO), based at the Centre for Tropical Medicine and Global Health at the University of Oxford, who currently holds the other Researcher-Director position. My journey with ORCID began in 2015, when I was introduced to ORCID IDs by my AuthorAID mentor, Prof. Richard de Grijs, whose guidance as an ORCID researcher board member deeply influenced my professional development and sparked my interest in ORCID. Since then, I have actively contributed to ORCID initiatives, including serving as a Researcher Advisory Council (ORAC) member since 2022 and leading a project funded by the ORCID Global Participation Fund (GPF) in 2023 through the University of Sri Jayewardenepura. I am immensely grateful to the Nominating Committee for considering me and to ORCID’s member institutions for placing their trust in me. I look forward to working with Chris Shillum, Executive Director and the ORCID Board including the member-director's who were elected with me for the three year term: ? Happy Feature Friday! ?? With our latest Registry update, we now prompt users to make their verified professional email domains publicly available, if they haven't already done so, when they are signing into other systems using their ORCID account credentials. By sharing email domains publicly in their ORCID records, researchers can help prove their association with organizations without having to make their full email addresses public. We expect that this encouragement will significantly increase the number of organization-related trust markers in active ORCID records, contributing to the overall trustworthiness of scholarly information systems. ICYMI, the National Institutes of Health announced this past July that as of 25 May, 2025, the agency will "require senior / key personnel on all NIH applications to use SciENcv to complete Common Forms, which will have a PID section. All senior / key personnel will enter their ORCID iD into SciENcv when preparing the Common Forms as well as link their ORCID ID in their eRA Commons Profile." In this NIH blog, we can see data focusing on Principal Investigators and Multiple Principal Investigators listed on extramural research grant awards that shows the growth in linked ORCID IDs. Those who don't yet have an ORCID ID should consider getting one before they are required for Common Forms in May 2025. Read more here: https://lnkd.in/eeHbxis4
