One of the best parts about the OrbitsEdge, Inc system is our scalable architecture. Our active thermal management with integrated radiation shielding means we can design around this or other form factors. I am expecting this platform to consume 500-1000 Watts, and we can accommodate that for customers who need the absolute most powerful, compact Inference Engines possible. Based on ROM numbers for shielding and thermal management, I'm expecting we will come in around 30kg for this system, all in.

In Space Manufacturing is coming. It will allow us to build things previously impossible, but it will be difficult and expensive, at least to start with. This means that results and repeatability will matter greatly. The only way to assure this is with telemetry driven operations and real time controls. The best way to do this is with local compute and AI enabled analytics. This is how you repeat your manufacturing process and get the outputs expected from the inputs.

Our CTO, Rick spoke with Dan Rabb about the recent splash made by Lumen Orbit in their latest announcement about Space Based AI training centers. It will happen, but not today. They need more of a bridge business model to get there. You have to survive until the numbers favor you.

AI goes to space! Much of the AI community is still focused on Server based agents, when the real magic occurs at the Edge. An agent living inside an edge compute module gives you self driving cars, drones and dynamic robotics. It can take that sort of capabilities to Space too, if we can field current generation COTS compute to space. That's why OrbitsEdge exists. We want to bring the same sort of compute that is driving robotics here into space.

Nvidia has an undisputed leadership role in AI. Still though, I don't see as much touting of the role that AI will have outside the server room. Agents living on the Edge, with the sensors and where the work happens will truly revolutionize how we do everything. The Industrial Revolution allowed us to multiply human labor, but it still required human intellect and usually sensors. We built machines. Those machines were dumb. The AI Revolution allows us to put a 'brain' into those machines. We can assign them tasks, direct them, fix them, but ultimately THEY perform the work. That's what we are enabling for Space. We are facilitating the 'roboticization' of what are essentially still mechanistic processes for space vehicles.

Insightful day at NVIDIA HQ in Silicon Valley! What architecture! To the DoD leaders who are waiting to jump in after AI and physical-AI simulation is solved or near perfect: “You don’t want to be late to an exponential curve.” - Jensen Huang 21 Aug 2024 Yesterday, collaborating with 250 AI leaders across the public sector at the NVIDIA Tech Day for Robotics and Autonomy was truly enlightening. Speakers delved into cutting-edge research on artificial intelligence, simulation, and robotics, fostering invaluable connections with industry experts. Highlight of the day? The world’s #1 CEO Jensen Huang engaging in a 90-minute Q&A session, followed by joining us for a 2-hour social event. Jensen gave thought-provoking insight into my question about the need for additional government investment into space simulation. I appreciate the dozen or so people who came up to me later to further the discussion about my question. A big thank you to Jon Stresing for the invite and kudos to Anthony Robbins and Shane Shaneman for further introductions and their efforts in organizing such a fantastic event! Grateful for the opportunity to learn from NVIDIA speakers like Deepu Talla, Rev Lebaredian, Amit Goel, Adam Thompson, Sameer Ronnie Dhillon, Dieter Fox, Jim Fan, and others, who shared groundbreaking insights on AI-powered robots, NVIDIA NIMs, autonomous robots, real-time sensor processing, and the future of robotics. Connecting with old friends, colleagues, and potential collaborators like Jimmie Adkins, Rob Albritton, Jen Arnold, Howie Choset, George Darakos, Danielle Franklin, Damon B. Gatewood, Akhil I., Mike Karlbom, Les Karpas, Christopher Korpela, Ph.D., Lu Li, Dennis Monagle, Esteve Mede, CEO and Investor, Alex Neefus, Dan P., Bill Vass and many more made the day even more enriching! #AI #Robotics #NVIDIA #TechDay #Collaboration #Innovation #Leadership

"When Starship is ready..." If this is your primary business model, you will likely miss the boat.? You will have trouble getting funding before Starship is operational, and by that time, someone else will have already bootstrapped into the niche you wanted. If you want to have a Starship Enabled product line, you NEED a product line that doesn't require Starship. You need a product line that feeds you and your crew while allowing you to climb the ladder of complexity and market discovery you will need to build your Starship vertical. OrbitsEdge has precisely this model.? We start out with small edge compute hardware with our proprietary radiation shielding and thermal management. And when I say small, I mean small.? Our entry product, the Edge1 can run 15 TOPS at 0.5U and around 250g.? From there, we go up and bigger and bigger and bigger until we are ready to deploy our constellation from Starship.? If you want to learn more, out DMs are open.

Having absolutely nothing to do with an email I received this morning, I am suddenly more curious about Quantum Sensors. Do I know anyone who works on these? I want to learn about them and how susceptible they are to radiation. My understanding is that entangled pairs are quite susceptible to GCRs, and we can mitigate those effects. If you want to talk, my DMs are open. If you know somebody, tag them. Time is limited.
