We're thrilled to announce that Orbital Mining Corporation placed second in #NASA's Centennial Challenge, Watts on the Moon! Orbital Mining's high efficiency, high voltage transmission and storage system provided continuous power for the full 48-hour test in cryogenic cold vacuum at the NASA Glenn Research Center, netting a prize of $500,000. We're excited for the next chapter of commercialization of our proven power solutions for the electric aviation, space, and Lunar markets. Thank you to our partners in innovation, Colorado School of Mines and European Space Resources Innovation Centre (ESRIC)! Our system operated for 50 hours in cold vacuum at the Colorado School of Mines, and we'll do it again at NASA Glenn! After last week's hand-delivery road trip from Denver to Cleveland and back, we're looking forward to the final competition test, scheduled for August 19-23 at #NASA Glenn Research Center. #tothemoon -- Orbital Mining Corporation is one of 4 finalist teams remaining in NASA's Centennial Challenge, Watts on the Moon. After awarding each finalist team $600,000 in different stages, this final competition test could result in $1.5M in total prizes. Each team is expected to provide power for 50 hours in a cryogenically (-200C) cold vacuum, simulating the worst case conditions on the #Moon.
Just delivered OMC's lunar transmission and storage system to NASA Glenn after two long years of work. Big thanks to Colorado School of Mines (especially Center for Space Resources) for helping us make this happen!
