Soltell Systems, one the OB Alliance's key partners, offers an innovative data service called SysMap that allows for high-accuracy sensorless performance analytics of any PV system from residential to commercial & industrial without installing dedicated weather sensors. SysMap’s exceptional precision allows it to identify even the smallest irregularities in solar PV performance, from external soiling effects to emerging electrical faults, facilitating state-of-the-art predictive maintenance. Soltell’s SysMap API, developed over the past year with the support of the Israel Innovation Authority, is now being validated by the OB Alliance to confirm that its API is consistent with the Orange Button Taxonomy. If you're interested in trying out SysMap, join the OB Alliance and contact Leon Kraversky at Soltell Systems.

Another helpful object recently added to the OrangeButton taxonomy is ProdQualification.? As a corollary to ProdCertification, this object articulates the regional and local network qualifications that emerge as requirements for products being used in systems connected to those networks. This object is enriched with QualifyingAgency to denote the agency doing that qualifying work.? You can check it out here on the ObEditor: https://lnkd.in/gN3ggeKa

The OB Alliance has expanded its ProdCertification object to include a full list of supported certification standards, expressed as Enum. While this list will likely grow over time, you can checkout the CertificationStandard property by visiting the OBEditor now hosted at: https://lnkd.in/gr6jdX38 Click on CertificationStandard for the detail, and click the View Enums button for the list!

We’re thrilled to announce that OB Alliance has been inducted into the NVIDIA Inception Program, a prestigious initiative supporting startups leveraging AI and data science to drive innovation. This is a significant milestone as we continue our mission to transform clean energy using AI-powered solutions. By harnessing NVIDIA’s cutting-edge GPU technology, we aim to Train AI models to streamline DER interconnections and reduce grid backlogs, Enable LLMs to read DER nameplate data and map it to Orange Button 2.0 Taxonomy, Generate synthetic datasets to simulate “Context-Aware” AI for energy systems. This partnership allows us to develop scalable, intelligent tools that accelerate clean energy adoption while improving grid performance and resilience. The Orange Button Technical Group, which meets twice a week (Tuesday 11am PST and Friday 2:30pm PST) has a compelling process of building out the taxonomy with the help of a web app called Orange Button OpenAPI Editor. ? Watching it in use by the group, there are a number of benefits that are immediately apparent: 1. Faster articulation of concept definitions directly into OpenAPI format 2. Efficient and distributed workload among members maintaining the taxonomy in real-time 3. High re-use of proven design patterns 4. Reinforces logical naming conventions 5. Cultivates informed use-case discussions focused on the topic at hand - with for and against illustrations at the ready 6. Promotes inclusivity of ALL voices while getting to consensus rapidly 6. Transparency leads to faster training in Orange Button taxonomy 7. Embrace of OpenAPI aligns with developer needs and activity.? We’re busy and there’s still a LOT to do but it’s encouraging to see the traction this group is making with the help of modern development tools - check it out at https://lnkd.in/g84JkwAT and/or join us during the week! Plus, if you are familiar with the Vue.js framework, we are looking for developers that can help add new features to this editor as well!

The PV Collada standards group has been working toward providing an open file format that will be able to articulate the Geometry and Electrical configuration of a solar design in an application neutral way. What this achieves is the unification of what have historically been duplicate efforts from different solar design platforms.? PV Collada format articulates two important aspects of a solar project - Geometric and Electrical Configuration - in a way that Solar Simulation software apps can import it. One important industry software package for solar simulation is PVSyst. PVSyst will be able import PV Collada files in order to produce vital financial modeling data based on a solar system’s intricate design. Cliff Hansen reports some real progress on a new version of PV Collada coming out soon. Orange Button will be dovetailing with PV Collada now that PV Collada encapsulates the expression of the intricate details of a solar system design, leaving OrangeButton with standard file attributes to work with - so we see this as a real win-win in terms of solar data management!

Ecosuite, a SaaS provider of software tools for DER developers, asset managers and financiers and SolarNetwork Foundation, curator of a open source platform for building Energy 2.0 apps presented “Leveraging Underutilized DER Edge Compute to Improve Market Efficiencies” at LF Energy Summit in Brussels on Sept 5.? Joel Santisteban and John Gorman spoke about how they are using SolarNetwork open source software and the Orange Button taxonomy to build out SolarQuant, a DOE funded ML framework for edge computing. First goal: provide methods using edge intelligence to accomplish preventative maintenance with hardware fault forecasting for heterogenous C&I DER portfolios. Orange Button’s concepts for OMIssue, OMTask, OMWorkOrder and more will be tapped to articulate these events when training models and forecasting new device outages with edge based inference.
