June 1 is approaching so I'm going to poke you again ?? , psst...
If your email is not compliant you're going to be in for a world of hurt soon. Google has been playing nice with slaps on the wrist for now.
Not only will you be filtered to spam, but any sender with a spam complaint rate exceeding 0.3% will lose the opportunity for mitigation. Mitigation offers a second chance to send emails without restrictions, but it requires maintaining a spam rate below 0.3% for seven consecutive days.
The best advice I've seen out there: send more email.
The majority of the time we see large complaint rate spikes it's due to the drop in volume. IE, You sent 100 thousand messages yesterday then 1 thousand today, you can see your complaint rates overlap into the next day from your previous volume and throw your current days % way up.
The best way to avoid that is to *consistently* send. And send more email to your most recently engaged subscribers to drive those %s down.
So now you have an excuse to send more email!
And, obviously, you want to *monitor* these things regularly so that you know what your normal averages are and when you are above / approaching thresholds. Or, if you do go over thresholds you want to be sure you are notified right away so you can correct.
OptiPub built an app to do exactly that called Postmaster+. Don't sleep on this and hit us up crying in June. Take advantage of the free trial and get straight.
