As Options for Homes and Home Ownership Alternatives are pleased to share that Brian Graff, Howard Bogach and Larry Whatmore have been re-elected for another term as Directors. ? Brian first joined the HOA board in 2021 and brings underwriting experience to the board. Howard, who was elected to the HOA board in 2020 has decades of executive leadership. And Larry, who first joined the board in 2017 is a community builder with deep expertise in finance. ? We are pleased to have the continued guidance and experience of Brian, Howard and Larry as we work to increase our impact in the affordable ownership space.

Options for Homes is Canada’s largest non-profit developer of attainable homeownership condominiums. A pioneer in the use of shared equity mortgages as down payment support, we have been in operation since 1994 and have built more than 3,300 homes and assisted over 6,500 people with down payment support. We help increase people’s buying power by contributing to their down payment through the Options Ready Program. The Options Ready Program provides access to down payment support up to 15%; this is structured as a shared equity second mortgage that increases a purchaser’s total down payment and lowers their cost of ownership. There are no monthly payments on this mortgage. Instead, when purchasers sell their unit or move, they repay the shared equity mortgage plus appreciation. The proceeds are used to create new projects, and therefore new opportunities for people to become homeowners. It’s an ongoing cycle that allows us to continue delivering on our mission of creating access to homeownership for future generations.

We’ve got more board appointment news from Options for Homes and Home Ownership Alternatives. Noah Rechstman is joining Board of Directors for both boards. Passionate about providing affordable housing alternatives to Canadians, Noah brings a unique perspective and a collaborative approach to HOA and OFH with experience in development, sustainable lending practices, capital formation and land valuation.? ? As a member of the executive team at Hullmark, Noah currently oversees all investment activities at the company, which owns and manages existing assets and residential pipeline. Prior to joining Hullmark in 2019, Noah spent 12 years in the Capital Markets Group at Cushman & Wakefield where he last held the position of Senior Vice President. ? He is currently a director and a member of the Board of Directors of JV Capital Ltd. and NHE Capital Corp., FSRA licensed mortgage brokerage and administration entities, and was on the advisory board of Mortgage Automator Ltd., a leading software company specializing in mortgage. He is an active committee member for the Hold’em for Life Poker Tournament, which he has sat on for 10 years, assisting the charitable foundation, raising more than $40M for cancer research. Options for Homes and Home Ownership Alternatives are adding more expertise their Boards with the appointment of David Chemla as Director, a seasoned professional with over 25 years’ experience in infrastructure and real estate advisory services. ? In 2018, David founded Sage Project Advisors, a consultancy that provides due diligence, partnering, business case risk analysis, project development, project management and transaction structuring advice to public and private sector. ? As Vice-President in Deloitte Canada’s Infrastructure Advisory Practice, David led teams that prepared business cases/options analyses, project roadmaps and value for money analysis for infrastructure and real estate projects. Serving as Vice-President, Project Delivery, Infrastructure Ontario (IO), he led teams of IO staff and consultants for the proper planning, budgeting, procurement and construction of five P3 hospital projects. ? David serves on the Building and Lands Committee and Audit Committee for the University of Ottawa Board of Governors, is a community representative on Trillium HealthWorks, Trillium Health Partners’ Board Committee, which has oversight responsibility over the largest hospital redevelopment project in Canada and has sat on the boards of Dorothy Ley Hospice and Equitas. Options for Homes and Home Ownership Alternatives are pleased to announce that Angus Knowles has been appointed as chair of both boards. As a senior development manager for LC Development Group, Angus has been developing and building attainable ownership housing in Ontario for more than eight years and has a Master of Science in Planning degree from University of Toronto where he received the Peter R. Walker fellowship. Angus has been a Director of the HOA Board since 2019 before assuming the Vice-Chair position in 2023. Angus is stepping into the role previously held by Elaine Crossland. As a longstanding member of the HOA board, Elaine was appointed a Director in 2017 before becoming Vice-Chair in 2018. She served as Board Chair from 2019-June 2024 and remains a Director of both Options for Homes and HOA board. ? We’d like to thank Elaine for her leadership through an era of considerable change, and we congratulate Angus on this Chair appointment.
