Saint Matilda: A Legacy of Faith, Generosity, and Strength On March 14, we honor Saint Matilda, a queen whose unwavering faith and generosity left a lasting impact on the Church. Born in Westphalia in 895, she was raised in a Benedictine convent before marrying Henry the Fowler, Duke of Saxony and later King of Germany. Together, they built a legacy of faith, founding Quedlinburg Abbey in his memory. Saint Matilda was known for her beauty, virtue, and deep commitment to charity. However, her generosity was sometimes seen as excessive, leading to a brief banishment when her son Otto became king. Despite the trials she faced—including mediating conflicts between her sons—she remained steadfast in her faith, ultimately retiring to the convent she founded in Nordhausen. She is the patron saint of widows, those ridiculed for their piety, and second marriages—a powerful reminder that faith, resilience, and generosity can shape history.* *As featured in the OptionC Catholic Resource Library #SaintMatilda #CatholicFaith #FaithInAction #OptionC

Lent: A Time to Trust God Completely The forty days of Lent and the forty years the Israelites spent in the desert share more than just a number. Both are a time of testing, trial, and—most importantly—trust. As Fr. Mike Schmitz explains, the Israelites doubted that God could lead them into the Promised Land, even after He had freed them from Egypt. They feared the challenges ahead more than they trusted in His power. Don’t we do the same? We hesitate, believing our struggles, sins, or habits are too big to overcome—even with God’s help. Lent is our invitation to trust completely. To surrender. To let God show us that He is all we need. How will you deepen your trust in Him this Lent? ?? https://lnkd.in/eCnbBZeu #Lent #AshWednesday #TrustInGod #CatholicFaith #FaithJourney #OptionC

Saints Perpetua and Felicity: A Testament of Faith and Courage On March 7, we honor Saints Perpetua and Felicity, two remarkable women who stood firm in their Christian faith despite persecution. Living in Carthage in the early third century, Perpetua, a noblewoman and young mother, was imprisoned alongside her pregnant servant, Felicity, for professing Christianity. Despite suffering greatly in jail, their unwavering faith inspired others. Perpetua became a leader among the martyrs, while Felicity gave birth in captivity, both separated from their children before embracing their fate. On March 7, 203 AD, they were martyred, becoming powerful symbols of courage and devotion. Their story reminds us of the strength that comes from faith and the sacrifices made to uphold it. May their example inspire us to live with conviction and trust in God’s plan. #SaintsPerpetuaAndFelicity #FaithInAction #CatholicFaith #Martyrs #SaintOfTheDay #OptionC

Today, we begin the sacred season of Lent with Ash Wednesday, a time to pause, reflect, and draw closer to Christ. As we receive the ashes, we are reminded of our mortality—“Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return.” (Genesis 3:19)—but also of God’s infinite mercy and the call to renewal. Lent is an invitation to deepen our faith through prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. It is a season of preparation, leading us to the joy of Easter and the hope of resurrection. As Catholic schools, parishes, and dioceses guide their communities through this journey, let us embrace Lent with open hearts, seeking transformation in Christ. How are you preparing your heart for Lent this year? Share your reflections in the comments. #AshWednesday #Lent #CatholicFaith #FaithJourney #OptionC

On February 28th, we honor Blessed Villana de’ Botti, a woman whose life was a profound testimony to transformation and grace. Born in Florence in 1332 to a wealthy merchant family, she longed for a religious life and attempted to join a convent at just 13. However, she was returned home and entered into an arranged marriage, embracing a worldly lifestyle. Her moment of conversion came when she saw her reflection and perceived not just her physical image, but the state of her soul. Deeply moved, she sought refuge with the Dominican Fathers at Santa Maria Novella, dedicating herself as a lay tertiary. Known for her austerities, devotion, and mystical visions, she became a model of repentance and faith. When she passed away in 1361, the desire to venerate her was so great that her burial was delayed for over a month. Her life reminds us that no matter how far we stray, God’s grace is always calling us back. #BlessedVillanaDeBotti #Conversion #FaithAndGrace #CatholicTradition #OptionC

On February 21st, we celebrate the feast of Saint Peter Damian, a man whose life was defined by faith, humility, and dedication to the Church. Orphaned at a young age, he endured hardship but remained compassionate, often sharing meals with the poor and personally tending to their needs. His brilliance led him to a career as a professor, but he soon left academia to embrace the life of a Benedictine monk. As an abbot, he founded hermitages, encouraged deep prayer, and later served the Holy See as a peacemaker and reformer. Elevated to Cardinal-Bishop of Ostia, he fought against simony and advocated for clergy to live disciplined, prayerful lives. Despite his high-ranking roles, Saint Peter Damian longed for simplicity. He ultimately retired to the monastic life he cherished, passing away in 1072. In 1828, he was declared a Doctor of the Church, leaving behind writings that continue to inspire. May his legacy remind us of the power of prayer, humility, and unwavering faith.* *As featured in OptionC’s Catholic Resources Library. #SaintPeterDamian #DoctorOfTheChurch #FaithAndService #CatholicTradition #OptionC
