Precision Liquid Handling Optimization - what a week it's been! At Optimize. Laboratory Consultants, LLC, we had an awesome week with various clients requiring demanding liquid class development all across the US! The excitement started Saturday/Sunday - strategic liquid handling with Ireland's greatest export! The start of the work week, our focus moved to complex experimental setups with various reaction mixes across a wide range of buffers, multi-pipetting & highly varied volumes needing a high level of accuracy & precision - using a Tecan Fluent where we have incorporated runtime optimization to handle every pipette step with tuned parameters to ensure each liquid transfer operates at the best parameters (the power of micro-scripting taken to an even higher level) Hump Day was awesome - sitting down with a client who had a proposal for an instrument vendor for a complex Cell Culture system and digging into the vendor's concept. The focus was primarily a risk assessment that the solution defined was fit for purpose, configured appropriately & each module was suitable - the result was a re-write of the system requirements, various changes of the hardware modules, software modules & overall workflow to better help the client lab to reach their short term goals in weeks versus months/years. The service we offer, essentially as a "solution validator" in this example, likely saved the client 9-12 months of problems & challenges through installation - likely $750,000 in start-up delay costs, facilities changes & design revisions. We are also now starting a significant development project to build the platform's control software PRE-INSTALL/PRE-BUILD to reduce the timeline for Go-Live to weeks rather than months. The end of the week was a fun project, expanding our capabilities to support a start-up company optimize pipetting of liquids into microfluidic disks - using a component air pipettor, with specific needs to deliver serum/plasma as fast & as accurate as possible - across multiple inlet channels At Optimize.
