DevSecOps removes the burden placed exclusively on the security team by making ‘security posture’ a shared responsibility between all teams involved—development, operations, and security. Why is this critical? Traditional methods often leave security gaps, making room for attackers to exploit the situation. By integrating security directly into software development, DevSecOps ensures:? 1?? Real-time vulnerability detection ??? 2?? Faster delivery cycles without compromising compliance ?? 3?? Continuous monitoring and governance across the SDLC ?? At OpsMx, we help enterprises implement DevSecOps and secure the software supply chain. While Shift-Left Security enables early vulnerability detection in the SDLC, traditional practices often fall short in providing visibility into its full ROI—into areas like risk reduction, compliance adherence, and operational efficiency. OpsMx’s policy-driven approach to Shift-Left goes beyond detection by quantifying security efforts made during development, directly mapping to risk, compliance, and operational efficiency goals in production. In this blog, Viresh Garg, explains how OpsMx helps measure the impact of Shift-Left strategies across these key metrics. ?? https://lnkd.in/gZim2yB8 #DevSecOps #ShiftLeft #AppSec #ROI #OpsMx

Schneider Electric’s data breach is a stark reminder that ‘security’ across the DevOps pipeline must not be overlooked. ?? This incident, where 40GB of sensitive data was compromised due to access credential vulnerabilities, highlights the need for CI/CD Toolchain Security Posture Management. Internal tools like JIRA, though not part of production environments, can still be targeted by attackers if left unprotected. Such attacks will become increasingly common if organizations continue to overlook DevOps toolchain security. In a recent blog, we explained the need for CI/CD Toolchain Security Posture Management in detail. Schneider Electric Hit by Data Breach: 40GB Stolen by Hacker “Grep” ?? Schneider Electric just confirmed a massive data breach—40GB of sensitive data exposed. The culprit? Hacker “Grep” who breached their internal JIRA platform. → What Happened? Using exposed credentials, Grep accessed Schneider’s JIRA server via REST API. Data stolen includes 75,000 emails, full names, project details, and issues. Despite this breach, Schneider states their products and services are secure. → A New Breed of Hacker? Grep represents the “International Contract Agency (ICA)”—a new hacking group. Instead of extortion, they give 48 hours to acknowledge the breach or face data leaks. In a dark web post, Grep humorously demanded “$125,000 in Baguettes” for the data. → Why This Matters Schneider, a leader in industrial automation, holds highly sensitive data. A breach like this raises serious questions about data protection for all. → What Can Your Business Learn? 1?? Access Controls: Regularly update and monitor access credentials to reduce exposure. 2?? Incident Response: Prepare a rapid response team to contain breaches immediately. 3?? Data Monitoring: Continuously track unusual access on sensitive platforms. Don’t Wait Until It’s Too Late Strengthen access controls and incident responses—cyber threats evolve fast. This breach is a reminder to ramp up data security across the board. ?? Repost to alert your network of evolving cyber threats. ?? Follow Brent Gallo - CISSP for cybersecurity best practices and tips. P.S.
