    Building OpsLyft

In my journey of building OpsLyft, I’ve seen how cloud cost management is often treated as a financial documentation exercise. But the real power of FinOps goes far beyond that. It bridges engineering, finance, and leadership, ensuring cloud investments align with business goals. It thrives on real-time data, enabling proactive decision-making instead of reacting to surprise bills. Automation plays a key role in eliminating inefficiencies and reducing the friction of manual cost management. More than anything, FinOps is a mindset shift—an ongoing discipline of continuous improvement in cloud cost optimization. At OpsLyft, we’ve helped companies move from fragmented cost tracking to a proactive, data-driven FinOps culture. Would love to hear—how are you integrating FinOps beyond just cost reporting in your organization? #finops #opslyft #engineering #finopsculture #cloud

    Building Go-To-Market @OpsLyft

When I joined OpsLyft over three years ago, there was no playbook—just a vision and the need to build from scratch. From figuring out our ICP to shaping our outbound motion, demand generation, and content strategy, every step was an iteration, a learning curve, and a challenge. Startups teach you to wear multiple hats, and I’ve worn plenty. Recently, I met a senior enterprise account executive from MongoDB who shared his career journey—starting as a regular salesperson and growing into a top enterprise seller. Listening to his trajectory made me reflect on my own path. While OpsLyft has made huge strides in outbound and nearly reached PMF, there’s still so much to refine and scale. One exciting part of this next phase is building a team to take our outbound motion to the next level. We’re now hiring SDRs at OpsLyft to help us scale what we’ve built so far! If you’re interested or know someone who’d be a great fit, let’s connect. His biggest takeaway? Sales is an ever-evolving craft. The best sellers aren’t just selling; they’re constantly learning, adapting, and solving real problems. That’s exactly the mindset I’m carrying forward as we build and grow. Thanks to Aayush S. for sharing his insights—it was a great conversation and truly helpful in gaining perspective! #gtmstrategy #startupjourney #saas #enterprisesales #outbound

Reserved Instance (RI) and Savings Plan (SP) reselling has been a popular cost-saving strategy, but its future as a standalone business model is becoming uncertain. Cloud providers like AWS, Azure, and GCP are closing pricing gaps with more flexible commitment options, making third-party arbitrage less valuable. Enterprises now negotiate custom deals directly, while startups often lack the scale to benefit significantly from resellers. At the same time, the shift toward real-time cloud cost optimization is changing how businesses manage their spending. Instead of relying on pre-purchased commitments, companies prioritize automated cost management, intelligent scaling, and financial transparency. With cloud providers tightening control over RI/SP trading and AI-driven workloads demanding more flexibility, the focus is moving away from rigid savings plans to dynamic optimization strategies. The companies that adapt—offering real-time insights, automated commitment management, and proactive cost-saving recommendations—will stay relevant. The future of FinOps isn’t just about securing discounts; it’s about continuous, intelligent cost efficiency. #RI #savingsplan #discounts #finops #devOps #costefficiency #opslyft #cloudsavings #aws #gcp

ERP systems like SAP, Oracle NetSuite, and Microsoft Dynamics 365 are the backbone of financial operations for enterprises- tracking revenue, expenses, payroll, and procurement. But when it comes to cloud cost visibility, they often fall short. For companies running on AWS, Azure, or GCP, understanding cloud spend at a granular level remains a challenge: ?? Which teams, applications, or projects are driving costs? ?? How should shared and untagged resources be allocated? ?? Are there cost anomalies or optimization opportunities in real time? While ERP systems provide a consolidated view of IT spend, they don’t break down cloud expenses at a granular level—which is exactly where FinOps comes in. The ability to link cloud costs to business outcomes—allocating them across teams, products, and revenue streams—is what makes cloud financial management effective. At OpsLyft, we’ve been working on bridging this gap by integrating deep cost allocation, real-time anomaly detection, and AI-driven optimization with existing financial workflows. For enterprises relying on ERPs but struggling with cloud cost visibility, adding a FinOps layer can change the game. Curious to hear how others are approaching this! #ERP #finops #finance #profitability #cloud #cloudcostmanagement

Solving Cloud Cost Allocation with OpsLyft ? The Challenge A leading cybersecurity company with a multi-cloud setup (AWS and Azure) was struggling to manage untagged resources. This led to cloud cost allocation issues, with significant expenses going unaccounted for or misallocated, causing inefficiencies and lack of visibility into their cloud spending. ? Our Solution OpsLyft helped address this challenge by: Automatically identifying untagged resources across both AWS and Azure environments. Implementing custom allocation rules to ensure every resource, tagged or untagged, was properly allocated to business units and teams. Providing real-time visibility into cloud costs, empowering better decision-making. ? The Outcome This solution resulted in: Improved cost attribution accuracy, leading to better financial clarity. Reduced manual effort, freeing up time for more strategic initiatives. A more structured, transparent cloud cost management process, tightly aligned with business goals. We’re thrilled to have played a role in enhancing their cloud financial transparency and optimizing their resource allocation. #finops #cloudcostmanagement #realtimevisibility #ai #allocation

During a recent conversation with a startup, we learned that while many early-stage companies might not focus on cost allocation yet—observability remains a top priority. Understanding how resources are being used—whether it’s for scaling or optimization—is critical for these fast-growing businesses. Cloud asset management is a great use case here. By gaining full visibility into their cloud assets, startups can eliminate unused or underutilized resources, optimizing their spend and performance. At OpsLyft, we’re committed to helping businesses, whether large or small, gain the visibility they need to make smarter decisions and scale confidently. It’s always exciting to hear firsthand about the evolving priorities of companies at different stages of growth. What’s your take—how do you think startups should balance observability and cost management? #startups #finops #cloudcostmanagement

Here's an uncomfortable truth for cloud-first companies- Your shiny new AI workloads? They’re eating your cloud budgets alive. And it’s not just a snack; it’s a full-course meal. Here’s the math: In the old world of predictable cloud usage, for every $100 you spent, you got $90 worth of business value. You could forecast. You could optimize. You could sleep at night. Welcome to 2025, where AI is the new gold rush—and the mining tools are expensive. Your generative AI models are churning through compute power like there’s no tomorrow, storage bills are climbing with every dataset iteration, and GPUs? They’re hotter (and costlier) than ever. For every $100 spent now, a chunk vanishes into the black box of AI. “We’ll manage it,” you say. “It’s worth the ROI.” Here’s the catch: - That ROI only shows up if you can allocate these costs properly. - AI and Kubernetes are tangled in shared, untagged resources, making true visibility a nightmare. - Unoptimized workloads are quietly draining budgets, and by the time you notice, it’s too late. The result: - Blown budgets. - Shrinking profitability. - Pressure from investors who still expect growth without waste. Here’s the good news: The winners in 2025 won’t just build AI—they’ll master the FinOps to sustain it. - They’ll know exactly which AI workloads are worth the spend and which aren’t. - They’ll allocate every dollar of cloud cost to a team, project, or feature. - They’ll optimize in real time, ensuring business outcomes—not runaway expenses. At OpsLyft, we’ve seen it firsthand: The future of FinOps isn’t about cutting costs—it’s about enabling growth responsibly. So, here’s our question: What’s your AI really costing you, and do you have the visibility to manage it? Let’s make 2025 the year we align innovation with profitability. #aicosts #saas #costcutting #profitability #finops
