Every year, HCA Healthcare honors our people for their outstanding service to our patients, our teams and our communities through the HCA Healthcare Awards of Distinction. Please help us in congratulating Tiffany Crabtree, Social Worker in our NICU, for receiving the Frist Humanitarian Employee Award. Throughout his life, HCA Healthcare founder Dr. Thomas Frist embraced the value of the human spirit and the duty each of us has to improve ourselves and others. And Tiffany Crabtree exemplifies this every day in her role as a social worker based in Overland Park Regional Medical Center’s NICU. Tiffany is a fierce advocate for NICU families and babies and works tirelessly to find solutions to their social challenges and mental health needs. Tiffany’s advocacy helped secure a grant for mental health resources for NICU mothers, and she was instrumental in securing the new Ronald McDonald House Family Room at the hospital. In addition, she helped create the Circle of Hope NICU Foundation, which raises money to support NICU families through gift and gas cards, sibling support tools, infant books and other resources. Beyond the hospital, Tiffany extends her dedication to helping others through community organizations like the March of Dimes and through her church, where she’s volunteered for numerous service projects on the national and local levels. Tiffany embodies what it means to show up for our patients, our colleagues and our communities. Congratulations, Tiffany!

Please help us congratulate Nisha Mills, Vice President of Operations, on her recent completion of HCA Healthcare’s Executive Development Program (EDP). During her time in EDP, Nisha was a capstone project winner for her work to maximize resources and support to help the Emergency Department during a surge. “At the start of this EDP journey, we were asked to contemplate our legacy statement. Mine was, 'Lead with humility, impact, and passion through meaningful relationships that encourage others to leave the world a little better than when we found it.' This project helped me demonstrate that. By leveraging our strategic relationships with ancillary and inpatient nursing leaders, we understood that during busy periods in the ED, it's everyone's responsibility to help decompress. As I learned in EDP, communicating with impact is crucial, especially with this project. We are asking teams to leave their departments to assist the ED, which can cause a lot of anxiety. With the skills I acquired in EDP, I was effective in engaging the ancillary team to meet our primary objective. Together, we have succeeded in learning how to work together rather than in silos, all for the betterment of our community. This has led us to keep our access open for the community, improve coordination of care for our patients, and deliver operational excellence.” Congratulations Nisha!

Please join us in recognizing Kirstin Ryan, RN, Labor & Delivery, for the receiving the DAISY Award! Her nomination reads, “Kirstin was extraordinary through our entire labor! She was always prepared for the next step in the process. She took the time to get to know us and was always ready to be my advocate. She helped make sure we always understood what was happening and advocated for our baby when needed. She was by our side through the whole experience and even came to check on us the next few days. Kristin truly exemplifies what it means to be a nurse: kind, compassionate, treating others with dignity and respect. I am so thankful that Kirstin was a part of our journey” Congratulations to Kirstin Ryan!
