To understand how grant recipients have used SAMHSA funds to address the opioid crisis, NASADAD, with support from ORN, has developed state and territorial-specific briefs that describe highlights of each state alcohol and drug agency’s use of STR/SOR funds across the continuum of care.? Thematic briefs were also developed to analyze common strategies and services states have implemented for opioid and stimulant misuse and use disorders using STR/SOR funding. Explore the interactive map by clicking on individual states or territories to access their STR/SOR brief: https://bit.ly/3YKf9sB #OpioidResponseNetwork National Association of State Alcohol and Drug Agency Directors (NASADAD) Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) #OpioidUseDisorder #SubstanceUseDisorder

Native American Heritage Month is also a time to acknowledge challenges such as limited access to health care and substance use treatment. As a result, some AI/AN (American Indian and Alaska Native) communities experience higher rates of substance use disorders compared to all other ethnic or racial groups in the United States. In 2022, 24% of AI/AN individuals reported SUD in the past year, compared to 17.3% among the general population (SAMHSA: https://bit.ly/4eCMWKe). ORN’s Indigenous Communities Response Team is comprised of Tribal professionals and strong allies with significant experience working with and within Native communities. They can provide educational resources and training opportunities that are locally meaningful, culturally relevant and considerate of the strengths and traumas that affect Native community wellness. ORN recently partnered with RBHC to deliver a training on substance use disorders (SUD) and the impact of SUDs on Indigenous communities alongside conversation on healthy relationships, safer-sex and sex trafficking during a two-day youth conference. Read more about this successful collaboration between ORN’s Indigenous Communities Response Team (ICRT) and RBHC: https://bit.ly/48k4lFS If your community or organization is interested in creating an event relevant to your local needs in collaboration with the ICRT, visit our website and use the “Submit a Request” button to get in touch: OpioidResponseNetwork.org. #OpioidResponseNetwork #SubstanceUseDisorder #SubstanceUsePrevention #PreventionMonth
