Matt Watkins, Founder and CEO of Operation Headshot was featured in the January 2025 edition of Leatherneck Magazine. During his interview he discussed the adversities that can accompany transitioning away from the military and how through gaming he was able to rebuild and strengthen the bonds with his two children. Though Operation Headshot does not have a focus on healing through the power of gaming, we find it is important to build relationships and partnerships with other organizations that do, such as the Warrior GMR Foundation. The transition off of active duty can be difficult. That is why it is so important we as #veterans, #militaryspouses, and #advocates of the #militarycommunity band together to provide support.

WOW! We filled over 25 seats for this years Project Sight Alignment photography masterclass!!!!! What?!?! Operation Headshot was founded in 2022, as a small networking event providing headshots and free food as an incentive for folks to show up. 2023, we banded together and became a 501(c)3. 2024, we hosted our first masterclass with only 5 students from across the nation, all #veterans and #militaryspouses. This year….. Drum roll……. Within 30 days we filled over 25 seats of #veterans and #militaryspouses!!! They are receiving a $2,500 course at NO COST! <— this masterclass will cover A LOT of information from basic photography skills to building a brand and business in the industry. This is the last year for this in-depth course to be at no cost. 2026, things will change slightly but, we will still have a no cost option for those wanting to learn the basics! What does this all mean? It means we are making strides to accomplishing our mission and our vision. Operation Headshot is committed to helping #veterans, #militatyspouses, and transitioning service members build a brand, expand their network, and become self-sufficient in pursuit of success as they navigate life beyond military service. We have a vision to lower unemployment rates among veterans and military spouses, ease financial distress, and improve mental health and well-being of military families. We will not stop and we will stand beside the military community to ensure they are #thriving!

Transitioning service members, Guard/Reserve, active duty, veterans, military spouses and all of the civilian supporters are invited to come out and enjoy an evening of community building. DO NOT miss out on this opportunity! 2025, will the the last year Operation Headshot offers the photography masterclass at no cost to #veterans and #militaryspouses! Well, kind of... This year's students are receiving an EXTENSIVE amount, about $2,500 worth, of education at no cost. Next year, 2026, the course will be revamped and not all of it will be free. The basics will remain at no cost; however, the more advanced sections of the course will no longer be free. As far as the cost of the advanced classes, we have not come to a conclusion yet, however they will be affordable for all. The purpose behind the change is so we can continue to serve the #veteran and #militaryspouse #community to our fullest extent. The funds generated from the other courses will be used to expand our programs and offer greater experiences for our beneficiaries. We are prepping for the 2nd Photography 101 course! If you are a #veteran or #militaryspouse and looking to learn the art of #photography, this course is for you! We understand these courses typically range in the thousands of dollars, this is why we are offering it at no cost to you and no strings attached. Also, you don’t even need a camera to get started, though you may eventually want to get one :) Don’t worry we will point you in the right direction here as well so you won’t have to sell a vehicle to get started.
