With a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a rich background in teaching, Kaitlyn brings a unique blend of expertise and empathy to her role at OWR. Fluent in English and Spanish and adept at navigating various cultural contexts, she is deeply passionate about advancing holistic and innovative mental health initiatives, especially for veterans. She is dedicated to using her skills to support OWR’s efforts in delivering exceptional care and to help ensure that those who have served our country receive the comprehensive support they need. Having a deep respect for the challenges faced by veterans, Kaitlyn is driven by a strong desire to make a meaningful difference to this community ?????? She’s a true asset to our mission. It would be unusual to experience trauma or challenging circumstances and not have thoughts of “not wanting to be here” or “not wanting to live.” Of course, someone having mental health challenges is going to have thoughts of suicide. Thankfully there is a solution. OWR prevented several Baker Acts in the last month getting veterans in for treatment within 24 hours. September is National Suicide Prevention Month and our veterans programs are featured in this month’s Military Times—let’s talk to each other about this, we have your “six” ????

We are thrilled to have Ilka Rodriguez as our newest Board Member! Ilka comes with a 36-year career in the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and became the first Latina in Human Resources promoted to the Senior Intelligence Service, the CIA’s executive cadre. She had a highly decorated career, to include three commendation medals, is fluent in several languages, and is a graduate of NYU and The George Washington University.
