Operation HOPE-North County

A huge thank you to Anisa Chaudry and her team at ServiceNow for their help in creating toiletry kits for the shelter. They requested funds on our behalf, allowed us to order the supplies, assembled the kits and then delivered them to Operation HOPE-North County for future use. Each time a new family moves in, these kits will be given as part of the welcome package and are provided throughout the year as a result of donations from community partners like ServiceNow. Thank you for helping us provide these basic essentials for our shelter guests. We can't do our work without this type of support!

Happy Veterans Day to all who have served and especially to our own veterans at Operation HOPE-North County, Tom Lopez and Isaac Dixon. Thank you for your service and for your continued dedication to those you currently serve.

Generosity abounds! Each week at Operation HOPE-North County we serve over 100 alumni and community families through our Pantry of HOPE. With help this week from Mariners Church of Oceanside our dry goods were fully stocked for a month with cereal, pasta and other hard to get items. Thanks Pastor Chris for organizing the drive and then bringing a team to stock our shelves. We are bursting at the seams!!

Join us in celebration of our Volunteer of the Year, LouAnne Murawski. LouAnne was honored at the North County Philanthropy Council Volunteer Awards Celebration. She was instrumental in helping us set up our New Beginnings Boutique for our alumni and community members. LouAnne also assists us with all of our fundraisers and is consistently helping us improve our service to the community. She has also recruited so many friends to volunteer as well. What a week for volunteering! Starting with envelope stuffing with the crew at Hilton Garden Inn Carlsbad Beach to boutique sorting with friends from Michael Baker International and ending by handing out candy at Vista Fright Night. We can’t do this without you!

Our first ever Dia de los Ninos community resource fair was a success! Thank you to all of our community partners for sharing their information and resources with our shelter guests, alumni and community members. Working together for our community is why we are here. On Tuesday, our Community Engagement Coordinator Kiana Sanchez received an award from the Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank for outstanding service to the community and support of the food banks mission. Kiana does an amazing job making sure our alumni families and community receive fresh produce and dry goods on a weekly basis. In partnership with the The Agrarian Institute and our many volunteers we serve over 130 families per week. Congratulations Kiana!

Strength in community! Over the past 2 weeks we have been working on a project with funding from the office of Supervisor Terra Lawson-Remer. She awarded us money for new bunk beds and closets for some of our shelter rooms. With help from volunteers from the Lucky Duck Foundation Lucky Ducklings, Amity Foundation and other generous community members we were able to finish. Thank you to Cipriano Vargas for stopping by to see the project and thank our volunteers. Thank you to all of the supporters of our shelter families for your help.
