Yesterday the OPERAS-UK national node was officially launched in a public online event! It was a great opportunity to gather the local scholarly community of SSH in the UK and the different OPERAS members to grasp the local needs and talk about plans for the future. The session was chaired by Frank Manista and Neil Grindley from Jisc, OPERAS-UK lead institution, and received presentations from Marlen T?pfer Toepfer, OPERAS communication manager; Karla Avan?o, OPERAS Capacity Building manager. Bringing some experiences from other national nodes were?Drahomira Cupar, national nodes liaison and OPERAS-HR representative; Enrico Pasini (Università degli Studi di Torino), from OPERAS-IT and Marina Cortez from OPERAS FRANCE. Also Kevin Sanders, from The Open Book Executive (OBE) Collective, presented their experience in becoming an OPERAS ordinary member in the UK. May the future of OPERAS-UK be full of innovation and collaboration! #OPERASUK #OPERASNationalNodes #SSH #ScholComm

The interest in our workshop yesterday on AI and LLMs as tools for social sciences and humanities showed the importance of the topic and how it is relevant to discuss future developments. Many thanks to our organisers from the OPERAS Special Interest Group on Tools and Platforms, Antoine Cordelois and Monica Roos, and the chair Karla Avan?o. Also a huge thank you to our speakers Julien Homo (Foxcub), Sy Holsinger (OPERAS CTO), Tomasz Umerle and Magdalena Wnuk (Institute of Literary Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences (IBL PAN), Rupert Gatti (Open Book Publishers), and Stefano De Paoli and Alex Fawzi (Abertay University). If you also have good AI-relevant cases to share, don't hesitate to get in touch with the OPERAS Lab and share your initiative on the Observatory or share your project ideas that need support with the Lab Accelerator: https://lnkd.in/eiBbEG6Y. Stay tuned for more insights into the topic that will be shared soon on our social media channels. #AI #LLMs #SSH #ScholComm #OPERASRI
