The OpenID Foundation (OIDF) promotes, protects and nurtures the OpenID community and technologies. The OpenID Foundation is a non-profit international standardization organization of individuals and companies committed to enabling, promoting and protecting OpenID technologies that provide the internet identity layer and API Protection. The OpenID Foundation is honored to host the Death and the Digital Estate (#DADE) Community Group, which will be Chaired by Dean H. Saxe, CIDPRO. The group will explore the difficult issues that all of us face as we consider what happens to our own and our loved ones' digital estates after death or disablement. Not an easy topic, but an increasingly important one as we advance the strength of our identity infrastructure, relying more upon #passkeys #MFA and #biometrics than #passwords. Thank you to those who have supported Dean in getting this Community off the ground Eve Maler Kaliya IdentityWoman Young Arynn Crow Ian Glazer Mike Kiser Nishant Kaushik George Fletcher Gail Hodges Teresa Wu Pamela Dingle Tim Cappalli Andrew Shikiar Khaled Zaky Andi Hindle Jeremy Grant #DigitalAssets #DADE

Over 10 years ago I started thinking about how individuals handle their digital estates when they die. Over many years and many deep, heartfelt discussions the ideas slowly evolved. Today, I'm so happy to announce the formation of the Death & The Digital Estate Community Group (DADE CG) within the OpenID Foundation. To learn more about the history behind this idea and what motivated me to charter DADE CG, I invite you to read the recently published blog article below. Come join us at DADE CG to help define the future of digital estate management for the benefit of humanity.

"Disagreements are sometimes quite intense and colored by relationships that go back decades." But 2024 Kim Cameron awardee @Matthew Spence beautifully articulates how we grapple with those differences and complexities over time, using his time on Capitol Hill as an interesting point of comparison. One of the great joys of DIAF's mission is that our awards enable people with different backgrounds to engage deeply in the future of #DigitalIdentity. We look forward to seeing what visions he and other Kim Cameron awardees, Sophie Bennani-Taylor Raj Patil and Rachelle A. Sellung, paint for the future of our industry.
