#ros2ai next-gen #ros2 command line interface empowered by #OpenAI and #Ollama, that is also one of my presentation at #ROSCon 2024 Odense, Denmark. Please share your thoughts and feedback, we also have AI Working Group in ROS 2 community. If you are interested, please feel free to jump in the community and development. https://lnkd.in/gC5SesbK ?? most likely I use markdown presentation with html... demonstration videos were lagging... but after all it worked! that was close...... https://lnkd.in/gtCZFGhQ #ros #robotics #robot #genai #cli #llama

Autonomous drives with the new chassis! Here are a couple dynamic obstacle avoidance tests. This new car is so much heavier and faster than my previous autonomous platform. I don’t enjoy patching drywall so I’m keeping the speed capped at 3 M/S. With the extra computing power I’m planning to implement occupancy grid segmentation and object tracking. This will hopefully allow me to estimate the state of the environment in the future. MPC would be able to take advantage of this and make smarter decisions around dynamic obstacles and other vehicles. In run #3 you can see that MPC tries to shoot the gap being closed by the sliding box. By the time the vehicle reaches the gap, it has already been closed by the box leaving no other option but to stop. With dynamic object tracking MPC would be able to see that the gap is not viable and attempt to navigate around instead. #autonomousvehicles #LiDAR #f1tenth #racing #ESP32 #SLAM

You do not want to miss this Wednesday's Gazebo community meeting! It may be the most exciting guest line up we've had in quite awhile. The Gazebo Community Meetings are open to everyone and a great way to meet our Gazebo core developers.
In the next Community [1] meeting we’ll have a taste of some of the Gazebo contributions who participated in the NASA Space ROS Sim Summer Sprint Challenge [2] - “CADRE: Cooperative Autonomous Distributed Robotic Exploration”. Sanjay (Purdue University). - “spaceros_gz_demos”. David Dorf. - "Rotor Model of the Ingenuity Mars Helicopter". Davide Zamblera (Politecnico di Milano). - “Ingenuity Mars Helicopter Simulation and Control”. Baris Yazici (Franka Robotics). - “Apollo 15 Lunar Roving Vehicle Simulation”. Jasper Grant (Dalhousie University Intelligent Systems Lab). - “LunarSim”. Munir Azme (Element Robotics). - “Custom Models and Gazebo plugins for Extraterrestrial Simulation”. Jasmeet Singh (Peer Robotics). - “Lunar Pole Exploration Rover & Plugins”. Robin Baran and Stevedan Ogochukwu Omodolor. #ros #ros2 #gazebo #simulation #robot #robotics #nasa #spaceros #space [1] https://lnkd.in/dQKain6u [2] https://lnkd.in/dJTj9_wa

ROS 2 for train rail maintenance is becoming a real thing! We're super excited!
PRIME - A STACK IS BORN NAV4RAIL enters the universe of ROS2 navigation stacks. It is a stack dedicated to the autonomous navigation of robots on rails. The new architecture we have developed has enabled us to overcome the initial difficulties we encountered. In simulation, everything now works perfectly : for a simple mission (speed-controlled journey between a starting point and an end point), the robot determines the path to minimize the travel distance, the geo-referenced positioning of our robot is ‘reprojected’ onto the network's vector map and the robot's speed is regulated as a function of the distance to the goal. The network vector map is a key element in our stack. We have developed VERNE, a data structure tailored to rail networks. VERNE will shortly be the theme of a scientific publication in partnership with the Chalmers University of Technology. VERNE provides a memory-efficient description of the network and is also effective for reprojecting GNSS measurements. We are now going to document the code. At the same time, we will be continuing our simulation tests. We will begin field tests during our ROLLON 2 mission in December. After that, we will make our gitlab repo public. While this navigation stack is essential, it does not in itself add any value for railway maintenance. At Innotrans, we saw many companies working on the same products. Railway maintenance has potential for robots. But it's not such a vast market that we can afford to duplicate or even quadruple the products for the same purpose. So let's put in common what is necessary but not differentiating. This is the position defended by 10 major ERJU partners in Work Package 18 of FP3-IAM4RAIL, which will lead to the creation of a railway robotics ecosystem in the near future. We'll walk our talk by opening up the sources of our code. This will not be the end of the development. There will still be a lot to do: managing more complex missions, refining the management of the robot's behaviour, for example with a behaviour tree, proposing a graphical interface for defining and managing missions, etc. But this first step remains symbolic. I want to share the Git Cheatsheet I have prepared to include in the 2nd edition of my book, which I will deliver next week to the editorial. It will probably be handy in general, particularly to the #ROS developers, as it covers the part of remotes. Mail me for the PDF version of this cheatsheet ??
