The 2024 Innovations Dialogue with the United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research and GESDA - Geneva Science and Diplomacy Anticipator Last Friday, together with UNIDIR, we hosted the 2024 Innovations Dialogue at the Campus Biotech. This year's Dialogue focused on quantum technologies and their implications for international peace and security. It emphasized the importance of intersectoral collaboration to foster multilateral governance and inclusive access to breakthroughs. At GESDA - Geneva Science and Diplomacy Anticipator, through our "Quantum For All Initiative", we stay committed to ensure accessibility, promote capacity building, and accelerate the development of practical use cases to unlock the full potential of quantum computing to support the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals #GlobalGoals. Last week, OQI attended the Alain Aspect Symposium to continue advancing dialogue around developing quantum technologies and their potential for addressing global climate challenges. Our team had the opportunity to connect with key stakeholders in the quantum ecosystem as we continue to build our network and support developing quantum computing use cases with a focus on the SDGs to address real-world challenges. As part of our exciting new partnership with UNICC, we are proud to host our second Quantum4Good event, focused on exploring how quantum technologies can create positive social impact. Day 1 brought inspiring discussions on: ?? Equitable access: Developing inclusive frameworks to benefit all nations. ?? Collaboration: The critical role of international cooperation and regulatory efforts. ?? Real-world applications: Addressing societal challenges, from advancing research to tackling global issues. We are honoured to have so many United Nations organizations in the room as 'problem owners,' ready to help shape innovative quantum-driven solutions. ?? ?? At OQI, we are excited to be involved in Quantum for Good: Setting the Stage for the International Year of Quantum in The Hague, kicking off tomorrow! ?? The two-day event, hosted by Quantum Delta NL, UNICC, and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU),?will bring together academia, industry, diplomacy and the private sector to explore how quantum technology can be used to drive solutions to some of humanity's most pressing challenges. As we approach the International Year of Quantum in 2025, these discussions are vital in shaping an inclusive quantum future. We are proud to be partnering alongside SIPRI and the Municipality of The Hague to highlight the contributions of our OQI community and showcase the work we are doing—from developing use cases for accelerating the SDGs, to advancing capacity building to ensure that developing quantum technologies are inclusive and beneficial for all. On 18 October, the Quantum for Connectivity roundtable at CERN, co-hosted by OQI and Giga, brought together experts from academia and industry to explore how quantum technology can drive the UN Sustainable Development Goals (#SDGs) and advance global connectivity. New event co-organized by UNIDIR and GESDA - Geneva Science and Diplomacy Anticipator Quantum technologies stand at the forefront of global transformation, bringing with it both immense promise and a set of unique challenges. Recently, at the GESDA - Geneva Science and Diplomacy Anticipator Summit, OQI and CERN Quantum Technology Initiative hosted a technical workshop on quantum computing approaches that delved into two key areas: Quantum Machine Learning (QML) and Quantum Neural Networks (QNN), as well as quantum algorithms for chemistry. During this engaging session, experts from OQI use case teams, the OQI community, and our advisors shared insights on the challenges and best practices in applying these quantum approaches to address various real-world problems relevant to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
