We were privileged to get an inside look at Florida Community Care’s recent award to pilot the state’s new Comprehensive I/DD Managed Care Program. We learned about the state’s goals in implementing the pilot, Florida Community Care’s approach to embracing the complexities of the Medicaid population, and the importance of evaluating short-term outcomes to inform broader policy and service delivery improvements. We are interested to see how this initiative will pave the way for models across the country. We will be sure to follow the progress of the program. Wisconsin recently opened five crisis stabilization centers for adults, with each location serving multiple counties. These facilities support people who cannot stay in their communities safely, but do not need to be hospitalized. The Wisconsin Department of Health Services set aside $10 million in American Rescue Plan Act funds to support development of these centers.
