Looking forward to joining the "Deploying Climate Capital" track at #SOCAP24 in SF next week. (Who else will be in town? Feel free to reach out!) In the delegate-led session "Putting Nature on the Balance Sheet: Transitioning Corporate Responsibility from the CSO to the CFO," we'll be sharing examples of both successes and remaining challenges in aligning markets (and ultimately, value) with the thriving of people and planet. ?? I'll bring some of our learnings so far at Open Future Coalition in addressing critical gaps between grassroots and community-led projects and their immediate resourcing and reporting needs… ?? And point towards the path ahead, through vehicles like Open Future Fund, to forge additional pathways for multicapital resource allocation in direct alignment and reciprocity with the self-determined needs of local communities. Excited to be joined by Samantha Power from The BioFi Project, Manuel Pinuela, PhD from Cultivo, and Martin Wainstein of Open Earth Foundation, moderated by nalini nadkarni. ?? Ultimately, this conversation is about more than just putting nature on the balance sheet: we need to fundamentally refine our accounting of value to reflect the full spectrum of benefits provided by those already preserving, protecting, and working synergistically with and as part of the natural world. Luckily, this isn't as big of a stretch as some may think: nature has always been a living, breathing part of our economies (since nature is us!) ?? Thanks to Gilad Goren for the invitation, and to Michelle Arevalo-Carpenter, Garrett Siegers, and the rest of the SOCAP Global team for your thoughtful curation. ?? Thanks so much for sharing your vital work, Olamide Gòkè-Paríolá, MS! Deep deep gratitude for the support of Future Food Institute, Ripple of Impact, & Integrity.Earth for helping create such a beautiful space during New York Climate Week, and to all who attended.
We would like to thank the Open Future Coalition for inviting us to their Contextual Capital: Strengthening Regional Resilience through Collaborative Food Systems Funding dinner. This event brought together leaders and visionaries committed to building a more resilient local food system, economy, and ecology. We were honored to share the work of the Black Farmer Fund at the dinner and to connect with others working to create a more equitable and sustainable food system for all. By supporting Black farmers and investing in local food systems, we can build a more resilient and just future for our communities. #foodsystems #equity #sustainability #ecology #philanthropy

We are honored to announce our inaugural cohort of Regional Resilience Fellows! Our Regional Resilience Fellowship program is focused on supporting, showcasing, documenting, and growing innovative, locally-driven projects, networks, and service providers across the areas of Ecological Restoration, Regenerative Agriculture & Food Systems, Community Wellness, and Infrastructure & Built Environment. Featuring 20 organizations, networks, and locally-driven projects spanning 35 regional demonstration sites in 16 countries, fellows have been recognized as playing a crucial role in fostering collaboration, solutions innovation, and knowledge exchange in their regions and sectors. Among the outcomes of this year-long program will be the launch of a “Living Library,” enabling existing community sourced solutions to scale, replicate, and learn forward together. Made possible through philanthropic support from the Cisco Foundation and the insights of our Regional Resilience Fellows, we’re expanding the Open Impact platform to source community-published resources, templates, and curricula from projects across our network, which we will refine together as a global community of practice. Together, we will build a global dashboard that shows real-time progress across our efforts, populated by locally sourced data, stories, & adoptable solutions—growing communities’ agency over their own resilience and resourcing transparent local impact at a global scale. Fortunate to have spent this week in such rich and thoughtful dialogue at Sun Valley Forum. Today, I'll be on a panel on "The Multiplier Effect of Harnessing Digital Platforms & Finance for Social & Environmental Wellbeing." I'll be joined by Sarah Ortner of the Milken Institute, Seanicaa (Edwards) Herron of Freedmen Heirs Foundation, and Jose Corona of the Agricultural Platform Collective in an inquiry facilitated by the inimitable systems thinker-and-doer Kat Taylor. *Join us at the live stream link below at 1pm PT/4pm ET/8pm GMT* as we explore the role of digital technology platforms to drive change in our food systems, maximize funding for community-led economic development, and catalyze climate action. Together, we will explore the intersection of these digital platforms with alternative finance to unlock capital and alleviate financial burdens on agricultural producers, focusing on small and BIPOC farmers and ranchers. The conversation will address the challenges encountered by these platforms, highlight their unique opportunities to achieve social good, and examine their role in fostering connections to key stakeholders, the land, and environmental resilience. I'll be highlighting our work alongside the dedication of Charlie Hopper and Mark Blevins at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University over the past two years, and sharing what lies on the path ahead. https://lnkd.in/diSGmqrR
