Helping visionary finance leaders turn systems into strategic assets.
关于我们
At Opal Creek Consulting, we help finance leaders turn IT systems into growth engines. We believe every business can be happy on NetSuite. We also know that success starts before you ever log in. With decades of collective experience across hundreds of projects, our veteran team of CPAs, consultants, project managers, and developers has learned one thing: what happens at the whiteboard is at least as important as what happens at the keyboard. From advertising to life sciences, from software to professional services, our clients come to us with complex challenges: integrations, revenue recognition, global compliance, project resource management, inventory management, and more. Whether you’re selecting your first ERP or optimizing an existing system, we help you align your technology with your vision, with fanatical attention to fit and finish. ERP is hard. How can we help?

We asked three of the big generative AI models, "If NetSuite were a pie, which pie would it be?" First lesson: if you just ask that question with no preamble or explanation, you get answers like "it would be a layered accounting pie with multiple tiers." #promptengineering After some back and forth, including some prompt adjustments like "holy hell, can't you name a normal pie?" we got the following answers: ChatGPT: I should say Apple Pie, but my heart wants to say Pot Pie. Gemini: Rhubarb Pie. Complex flavor, reliable and sturdy, and surprising versatility. Claude: Lemon Meringue Pie. Layered, business-like, and structured. We aren't sure, but Opal Creek is definitely a Marionberry Pie. Shoutout to the geniuses in the College of Agriculture at Oregon State University! #piday

We have struggled to keep up with announcements regarding new/changed U.S. tariffs, but our partners at Avalara eat this stuff for breakfast. We've bookmarked this page and have referred multiple clients to it:

It's a long essay for a Monday morning, but it's awfully important stuff.
Hey guess what? Like literally everyone, I am also obsessed with AI stuff! NetSuite/Accounting/BusOps domain expertise is on the chopping block. The subtler skills: listening to a client, asking the right questions, and designing systems that truly support businesses, aren't far behind. As a professional, I'm both excited and anxious. These tools already make me better at what I do. But how long until they overtake me? As a parent, same feelings but 10x. Forgoing the use of new technology never works and is usually a bad idea. Would you rather dig a ditch with a shovel, or use your bare hands? But we face a reckoning, and this essay does a good job arguing that many of the paths we could choose are Bleak. I would love to hear a future vision that's both positive and more plausible than Altman's techno-utopia fantasies. Who's got one?

Normalize giving feedback early and often. Negative feedback is important. Positive feedback is equally so! https://lnkd.in/gaggWamy

We are very proud of the work we're doing with the Urban League of Portland helping them settle in and adopt NetSuite. They've been nothing short of incredible to work with, and we are honored to play even a small part in the success of their important program work.
Impact isn’t just a word—it’s action. The Urban League of Portland and Portland Trail Blazers are teaming up to create lasting change in our communities. From advocacy to empowerment, this partnership is about making a real difference. ???? #UrbanLeaguePDX #TrailBlazers #CommunityImpact

Our friends at Clark Nuber PS with a good piece on one of the first dominos in the "greenhouse gas accounting is coming for everyone" chain to fall later this year. If you're ready to start measuring your carbon footprint, and your business runs on NetSuite, there's a great path forward for you. https://lnkd.in/gcMWCCta

We've been reading a lot about AI coming for all the "knowledge worker" jobs, and yes, of course it is. For now, though, when perhaps the most famous thing about this new generation of AI tools is that they make things up half the time, it's hard to imagine the accounting function handing over very much trust. https://lnkd.in/gJZGC8Mn

Kayleen Huang gives a good overview of working manually with intercompany transactions in NetSuite, and Netgain Solutions offers a next-level solution. We've written several different customizations to support particular intercompany requirements - it's a common pain area! https://lnkd.in/ga7Kacgj https://lnkd.in/g3yeGxab
