We all have superpowers and I am fortunate to have two. The first is networking and the second is perservance. Someone once shared with me that as an entrepreneur, you are bound to make mistakes. There is one mistake however that is fatal for a founder which is quitting. Not to say there aren't times when things just aren't working, but often it is the grit that gets you to the next stage or helps you pivot. There are a handful of quotes that inspire me personally to persevere. The Teddy Roosevelt, "Man in the Arena" quote is absolutely at the top of my list. Exciting News! I’m thrilled to share that I have successfully completed the Leadership Excelerator course, a thoughtful farewell gift that turned out to be one of the best presents I could have received. This program has been instrumental in helping me develop key leadership qualities and gain valuable insights about myself. A huge thank you to wonderful facilitators Mr. Andre Alphonso Sir and Mr. Darren Bagshaw Sir for organizing such an incredible course! The blend of self-assessments, exercises, reference materials, and team-building activities made it highly engaging and practical. I could relate real-life situations to the experiences and stories shared by the mentors, making the learning journey even more impactful. The practices I attempted allowed me to gain deeper self-awareness, and the strategies suggested to overcome weaknesses will undoubtedly help me in the future. Some of the most meaningful takeaways for me were Intentional listening, powerful ways to implement ideas, the impact of a leader’s behavior and actions on a team, and understanding different types of distractions, team building ice breakers and activities. Lastly, I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Shitij Bahl Sir for providing me this wonderful opportunity. The biggest lesson I learned? Every town has a group of figureheads that represent the community. They take the reins of representing the interests and flourishing of individuals and businesses while working overtime to improve their neighborhoods. If they are exceptional, they add character and charm to their surroundings as well. If we have strength and resources, we are called to persist in bringing relief to others. With that sense of responsibility, it is possible to make the world a little brighter by focusing on what we can change in our immediate reach, with the hope that others will carry the light to their next destination, where it will be picked up and shared. Karen Roofe is one of the aforementioned figureheads in our community. She’s an inherent presence in Traverse City and someone I consider an icon, though she’d never refer to herself as one. She’s someone I’m grateful to know, proud to work for and someone who made me a better human as a result of our meeting.?
