You can make great impact by turning your pain into purpose.
I learnt this many years ago and Onome Omobolaji Obada Foundation is one of the fruits of this lesson.
As leaders, as individuals, and as members of our communities, we all have a unique opportunity to make a difference in the world. Every day, we’re presented with chances to create positive change, and it’s often in our moments of pain that we find our greatest motivation to help others.
I learned this lesson firsthand after losing my sister to sickle cell anemia 17 years ago. Watching her fight through pain that no one should have to endure was heart-wrenching. I felt helpless, lost, and yes, angry. But from that deep well of sorrow, something beautiful emerged: the birth of a foundation dedicated to making a difference in the lives of those in need.
Our mission now is to transform lives and empower communities through access to essential healthcare services. It’s a small step, but it’s one that I hope will provide comfort and aid to many.
So, I challenge you: Look around you. Identify the pain, the struggles, or the injustices that resonate with you. How can your experiences fuel a fire for action? Whether it’s volunteering your time, starting a conversation, or creating a platform for change, every effort counts—no matter how small.
In our journey through life, we all face obstacles, but it's how we respond that truly matters. Let’s channel our experiences, our pain, and our passion into something that can change lives. Together, we can elevate and uplift those around us, creating a ripple effect of kindness and support.
