Ooni

It was a pleasure to share Ooni’s story at The Scottish Parliament as part of the first #BCorp festival in Scotland. Here in Scotland on the 25th January we celebrate our National Poet, Robert Burns. A few years ago the brilliant poet Rab Wilson wrote a poem about Ooni in the style of Burns. ???? Hope you like it. (Subtitles may help global friends! :) Ooni is a proudly global team and we're so grateful to have Ooni community all over the world. We have teams in the UK, the USA, Canada, Australia, China, Germany, Sweden, Finland, France and partners in many more. ?? Feels like a time to celebrate diversity, our unique stories, our ideas, our dreams and the connections we can have more than ever. "It tells a tale o' hearth and hame, that's auld as time" ??? + ??

Back in January 2013, right after the Kickstarter for Ooni but before we'd even started shipping, I noticed an unusual number of mailing list signups coming in (I love a mailing list, AMIRITE Angie?!). I realised that Ooni was getting a sudden influx of attention and it needed to be harnessed. I raced home and within minutes had Shopify setup, ready to go and taking orders! Now, almost 12 years later that original Shopify instance, our Ooni USA website, has hit an absolutely enormous milestone that we couldn't be more proud of: One miiiiillion orders [Austin Powers impression implied!] There aren't many tools or partners for Ooni that go all the way back to the origin days but Shopify is one of them. We're a grown-up company and have done our due diligence; we've looked at other options along the way to see if there's a reason to move at our scale. But answer's always the same: no, Shopify delivers what we need and goes well beyond. A cornerstone of the Ooni stack. Thanks to the team at Shopify for their support, our internal team running the websites (I HAVE to mention Ben who's just hit 5 years at Ooni and was our first internal Shopify developer. Hi Ben ??) and, of course, the millions of Ooni customers around the world ?? ?? Here's to the next million!

Today my friend Nick Kind spotted this outside Paddington Station in London and texted to share it with me. (Thanks Nick that WAS kind!) It was a surprise to me and it sparked proper joy! We're on London buses! ?? Sure, I've been on a lot of London buses in my time;) Sometimes night buses with friends. OH THE GLAMOUR. More often with the boys when they were bus-loving toddlers (I think all toddlers love buses?? And rightly so). But now we're ON on them. Seeing this photo was a real pinch ourselves moment. We shared it with our whole Ooni team on Slack. They were buzzing too. ? Love Share the Spark so much. ?? Shout out to our beaut brand and creative teams lead by Allan Little and Michael Kinlan. It sums up Ooni and where it all came from: the spark of an idea, the spark of something that could be, the spark of connection, sharing great food, sharing great times. Anyway, I wanted to share this small but lovely great time we had today. Seeing the team buzzing by this moment. Awesome new Ooni oven. We’re confident his leadership and experience will elevate our entire organisation, and we’re delighted to have him at the helm working with our multi-talented North American team in Austin, Texas. With a stellar career, most recently as the former President of Breville North America, Stephen has extensive experience in consumer brands all the way from confectionery (that's candy to y'all) to coffee machines. This gives him a unique understanding of market trends and consumer behaviour in a market so core to us. Stephen is super passionate about innovation and was drawn to the trailblazing DNA of our team here at Ooni and we're glad. As well as loving pizza (naturally;) He’s also very into family, health and wellness - I must admit I’ve stepped up my own step count in the last few days as a result;) Also well done Edinburgh for showing up with sunshine for his first visit to Ooni HQ.
