"Computer programming is an art, because it applies accumulated knowledge to the world, because it requires skill and ingenuity, and especially because it produces objects of beauty. A programmer who subconsciously views himself as an artist will enjoy what he does and will do it better"
- Donald Knuth
During my time at Rubrik, one of the most delightful parts of my day was sharing a couplet from the great Hindi/Urdu poets in our internal Slack channel, #poetry, and drawing connections to Software Engineering. These posts often reflected the pulse of the company — during performance review cycles, for instance, they would touch on promotions and pay hikes. The topics were as diverse as they were insightful, covering everything from best practices in software engineering, managing tech debt, and navigating the product development lifecycle to on-call strategies and effective tech leadership.
Since moving on from Rubrik to Oodle AI, I’ve truly missed this part of my day. So, my former Rubrik colleague Abhishek Saini and I decided to bring this passion to a broader audience. We started Code Poetry — a space where we weave the timeless wisdom of Hindi/Urdu poetry into the fabric of Software Engineering.
If this fusion of art and technology intrigues you, check it out and join the conversation.
