To be innovative is to thrive—and the quickest way to thrive is to?draw from?a broad talent pool.? ? "An inclusive workforce allows for a wider range of perspectives, experiences, and ideas, leading to greater innovation, better problem-solving, and increased creativity. It also broadens our talent pool, helping to address the labor shortage we face as an industry. Our clients, customers, and partners benefit from working with companies that reflect the diversity of the world we live in." – Mike?Traylor, Co-CEO, Traylor?Construction Group ? #wicweek #wicweek25 #womeninconstructionweek2025

Closing out #EngineersWeek, our final innovation is the Pier Column Fall Protection Frame. ?? During a pier cap thru-tube installation, safe access inside the pier columns was a challenge, as there was no existing tie-off point for fall protection. The team needed a solution that ensured worker safety while allowing efficient access. Using onsite materials, the team designed and fabricated a fall protection frame with a dedicated tie-off point and a built-in winch system for emergency rescues. Workers could safely transfer from a manlift, descend into the column, and complete their work following confined space entry procedures. This innovative approach enhanced safety, minimized delays, and reduced costs—all while using resources already available on site. #TraylorDriven #InnovationDriven #PrideinWhatWeDo #EWEEK2025 Traylor Bros., Inc. Our fourth innovation for #EngineersWeek is the recently patented B.U.R.T. – Ballard's Underwater Ring Transporter. ?? Maintaining underground pipelines is a challenge, as repairs traditionally require system shutdowns, costly excavation, and major disruptions. B.U.R.T. eliminates these issues by transporting and installing pipe liners inside active pipelines, using hydraulic-powered arms and precision control. This keeps water systems operational while extending the life of critical infrastructure. The system allows for real-time adjustments, ensuring proper placement and alignment of pipe segments.? By keeping repairs efficient and minimizing water loss, B.U.R.T. is a sustainable solution for maintaining aging infrastructure. #TraylorDriven #InnovationDriven #PrideinWhatWeDo #EWEEK2025 Ballard Marine Construction Innovated and Patented By: Matt Short, Matthew Greger, Arild Ollestad, Shawn Drobny, P.E., Jeff Spoerl, Tony Raphael, P.E., Jimmy Johnson, Mario Rivas, Chris Bauer, Jesse Hutton, Lewis Rounds, P.E., John Schue, Jr., DBIA, Shea Altadonna, Caleb Stanley, Jayme Newbigging, George Williamson

Our third innovation for #EngineersWeek is the Wireless Human Detection Camera System. ?? In low-visibility environments, such as underground tunnels, equipment operators have limited to no line-of-sight, increasing the risk of collisions with workers nearby. Wired camera systems weren’t effective in harsh conditions and required frequent disconnections when swapping equipment. This innovation utilizes off-the-shelf components to create a fully wireless, battery-powered detection system that enhances safety.?A compact unit with AI capabilities processes video feeds in real-time to detect human movement, and a waterproof camera streams video wirelessly to a screen inside the operator’s cab. Operators can also remotely access the feed for troubleshooting or real-time monitoring when near Wi-Fi points.? This system reduces blind spots and improves worksite safety, ensuring that human detection is always prioritized. #TraylorDriven #InnovationDriven #PrideinWhatWeDo #EWEEK2025 Traylor Bros., Inc. Our second innovation for #EngineersWeek is Prefabricated Conduit Cards. ?? When installing 22 large conduits in a facility where the roof couldn't support the load, the Sterling Industrial team had to reroute them underground. This solution, while effective, presented a new challenge—installing conduit quickly enough to keep up with the project timeline. The team developed prefabricated conduit cards, made from pre-cut polyurethane sheets with drilled holes, which drastically improved efficiency. These cards allowed conduit racks and chairs to be installed at a faster rate, enabling longer and more continuous conduit runs. By simplifying the installation process, the team increased productivity, reduced delays, and ensured work stayed on schedule. #TraylorDriven #InnovationDriven #PrideinWhatWeDo #EWEEK2025 Innovators: Eric Biehl Jack Wallace John Brunney Michael Ash

In celebration of #EngineersWeek, we will be highlighting several innovations that our team members have implemented across Traylor Construction Group. Today’s feature is the 3D Printed Anchor Rod Survey Tool. ?? Accurate alignment of anchor rods is critical in construction, at times requiring tight tolerances of 1/8 to 1/16 inch. Misalignment during surveying can result in costly rework and delays.? ? To address this challenge, a 3D printed tool was developed to simplify and standardize the process. The tool features a sleeve-like design with progressively larger interior diameters to accommodate anchor sizes from one to two inches in 1/4-inch increments. A see-through slot and exterior guides ensure proper positioning, while a central hole on top allows for precise placement of the survey rod. Made from PAHT-CF filament, the tool is both heat-resistant and structurally stable, making it ideal for repetitive use, even in harsh environments.? This innovation minimizes error, reduces inspection time, and improves overall quality control. #TraylorDriven #InnovationDriven #PrideinWhatWeDo #EWEEK2025 Traylor Bros., Inc.
