To the hundreds that engaged with Paul Abbate, FBI Deputy Director at INLETS programs over the years, yeah, we will miss him. And we wish him a congratulatory, well-earned retirement!

    Executive Director (retired FBI)

Congratulations to Paul Abbate, who served as Deputy Director of the FBI for the last four years, and who retired today after 28 years of service. A familiar guest at INLETS, he is pictured here at a recent event on the right, with Mark Geist and Rone, me, Kirk Lippold, and Tom O'Connor. As an executive, Paul was always an Agent's Agent, committed to supporting the Field and their efforts, strengthening relationships with State and Locals, and always remembering the victims and victim families. Whenever asked, he. was. there. As an agent, our paths crossed in NYC during 9/11, before he would ascend in the Counterterrorism world, leading in positions stateside and deploying to support the GWAT. He spent half his life as an FBI agent. Yes, actually. From Violent Crimes, Terrorism, SWAT, the leading business manager of the FBI (#3) before becoming selected to be the operational leader (#2). And he did it well. His leadership, experience, institutional knowledge, support and friendship will be missed... and hard to replace. Good luck to him, going forward. Godspeed, my friend.

Before the ebb tide washes away 2024, we thank our law enforcement family for answering the call - whether it be standing in the breach or extending a helpful hand, and doing it with professionalism, compassion, and tenacity. ...And with solemn reflection, we remember the 139 law enforcement officers who this year gave their last full measure. - Tragically, 49 by adversarial gun fire. - Stunningly, 10 due to 9/11 related illness - having started 23 years ago. - and heartbreakingly, this does not include the 184 police suicides per year. Heroes, every one. As we set sail into 2025, INLETS looks forward to continuing courses led by experts on relevant topics and emerging trends to help our LE family bring justice for the victims. ...And we hope to see you, On The INLETS.
