With $3M+ in initial funding, we're now looking for more engineers and designers ready to work alongside incredible public sector leaders – to tackle some of the biggest challenges facing our local communities – housing, economic development, permitting and range of other critical services. We won't sugarcoat it – these are highly complex, regulated spaces with many barriers to innovation. But we believe deeply in the long term societal benefit of improving the foundational systems that determine our local and national resilience. California jurisdictions spend countless hours compiling data to complete Annual Progress Reports for the California Department of Housing & Community Development (HCD) annually. There's a better way. Fragmented data across departments creates inefficiencies, compliance risks, and administrative burdens—diverting resources from core city initiatives. At Onetera, we're committed to reducing the time spent gathering data for APRs. Our end-to-end AI workflows facilitate the creation of Annual Progress Reports submitted to HCD, allowing your staff to focus on meaningful initiatives rather than paperwork. Key features that make APR reporting seamless: - Overview of key APR metrics and progress, including qualitative inputs for Table D - Smart cross-departmental collaboration tools - Real-time compliance monitoring with complete audit trails - Standardized data collection that meets both HUD and state requirements - Automated performance tracking and reporting Schedule a demo to see how your jurisdiction can transform APR reporting from an annual headache into a seamless process. In a dense urban environment, the design phase dominates the project timeline, costing time and money - the cycle time for reviewing plans with zoning boards and planning committees is necessarily slow given how bottlenecked many of these organizations are. Data is transmitted via plaintext in email and unstructured PDFs, preventing effective collaboration and making iteration painfully manual. I'm really excited about the idea of providing municipalities with AI systems which can enforce these regulations automatically, integrating directly with architectural systems and GIS tools to help citizens and developers understand how their community will look if various proposals are approved and built.

Figuring out what you can and can’t build on your property shouldn’t be a frustrating experience—but today, zoning laws, building codes, and permitting processes create friction for everyone involved. To help tackle this,?Onetera?will release our?Permitting Service Guide?in a couple of weeks—an AI-powered workflow that generates a?detailed property report?based on all applicable guidelines, including ordinances. And we’re making it completely?free to the public—so homeowners, property developers, and government staff can access it?without needing an account. As an LA-based company, we see firsthand how?government efficiency impacts recovery and rebuilding efforts. We hope this release contributes to short-term solutions and sparks conversations about the future of AI in permitting. -- Gregory Kajszo Jennifer Schoeneck, CEcD Dr. Sylvia Jauregui Jasmine Kim Jesus Camacho Christopher Chang Peter Wilczynski Gabriela Juarez, AICP Michael Lee Sherwood Jaime Espinoza Pérez Vinny Tam MURP, AICP Dr. Celia Garcia Alvarado Nicole Mayes Marco Ramirez Francisco Contreras, AICP Amanda Moreno Jessica Reyes Juarez, AICP Manuel Mu?oz Max Sherman Erick Becerril, MPA Mark Jimenez Andrew S.

Onetera's Permitting Service Guide leverages generative AI technology informed by program guidelines and local ordinances to create a personalized, step-by-step experience: - Simplifies the complex permitting journey with intuitive, conversational guidance - Provides tailored instructions based on specific project types and local requirements - Reduces common questions and application errors that typically slow down the process Benefits to Municipalities and Property Owners: - For Property Owners: Transforms a traditionally frustrating experience into a transparent, manageable process without the need for multiple calls or visits to city or county offices. - For Admin Staff: Reduces time spent answering routine questions, allowing valuable staff resources to focus on complex cases and technical reviews. For Community Development: Accelerates project timelines while maintaining compliance, supporting housing development goals This early access release to Southern California cities represents the culmination of extensive collaboration with building departments, urban planners, and residents. As we gather feedback during this early access phase, we'll continue refining the platform to ensure it meets the unique needs of each community. "By involving city staff and community members throughout the design process, we can create AI solutions that are technically sound, socially responsible, and organizationally effective." Onetera’s work with Southern California cities shows that successful AI implementation in government isn't just about technology—it's about people. When we prioritize human-centered design, we transform bottlenecks into breakthroughs. In this collaborative post, Jessica Reyes Juarez, AICP and Dr. Sylvia Jauregui highlight key themes that emerged during the Onetera SoCal Cities AI Design Day, including streamlining government operations, enhancing community engagement, and balancing efficiency with ethical implementation. Fantastic passage from The Technological Republic by Palantir CEO Alex Karp and Nicholas Zamiska – “A commitment to advancing outcomes at the expense of theater, to empowering those on the margins of an organization who may be closest to the problems, and to setting aside vain theological debates in favor of even marginal and often imperfect progress is what allowed the American technology industry to transform our lives. Those values also have the potential to transform our government.” It aligns with much of our philosophy at Onetera and our commitment to deep collaboration with the local public sector. And we’re fortunate to be supported by a growing number of people – colleagues, partners, investors – who believe in this as well. — Dr. Sylvia Jauregui Lara Hattatoglu Haripriya Rao Evan Brown Peter Wilczynski Gary Lin Ed Hicks Claire Ayala Totten Phillipi Jasmine Kim Prashams O D
