This is Why OSC continues to evolve with timely impact for 12+ years....the community is exceptional. I love my work. because it's not work to build connection and meaning with wonderful people working together to uplift the Natural Products industry and beyond.
It’s not often that we get the opportunity to convene our growing community in person, but when we do, magic begins to ripple out.? Two weeks ago we were joined by over 120 guests in the gorgeous setting of the Traditional Medicinals Guesthouse and Corporate Retreat Center at the second annual Ripple Fest.? This grassroots industry experience was born out of the desire for more relational gatherings. Spaces that spark inquiry, elevate #impact, inspire #kinship, and reignite our individual and collective #purpose as activated leaders.? Reflecting on this year’s event it’s clear that Ripple Fest is nurturing and delivering on those desires.? What happened at Ripple Fest? Well, so much that a single LinkedIn post can’t do it justice, but we’ll start with this! ENGAGED DIALOGUE Inspired by a theme of “Finding Purpose in Place”, this year’s gathering included dynamic breakouts that explored community-generated topics on: - Building & Financing Resilient & Diversified Supply Networks with Alisa Knapp & David Cooper, featuring our friends from Lil Bucks & PACHA - AI & Collaborative Opportunities for Learning and Adoption with Timothy Childs - Uplifting Women Across the Food System from Seed to Shelf with Jamie Horst, Dr. Nioma Narissa Sadler, Lara Jackle Dickinson, Rosalyn Stewart and Kathryn Flouton - Radical Collaboration Towards Circularity in Packaging with Taylor Clayton, Kelly Williams, Erin Douglas, and Eliza Brady - Paradigm Shifts towards Regenerative Capitalism? with Lara (Livingstone) Lee, Stephen Hohenrieder, Kyle Koehler, and Kevin Bayuk - “Greengushing”: Data-Driven Impact Storytelling with Gagan Levy, Julia Collins, and Dana Smith We also heard from the powerful voices of Carlotta Mast, Funlayo Alabi, MaryAnne Howland and Dr. Nioma Narissa Sadler on how #love is central to sparking our purpose.? A beautiful fireside chat in the sunshine that inspired all to bring more #love and #kinship into our work, industry, communities, and everyday lives. We are truly feeling the love stepping out of this year's Ripple Fest, and look forward to sharing more sneak peeks and takeaways from this year's gathering - so stay tuned! Immense gratitude to our incredible event sponsors & partners that made this experience a reality: New Hope Network, Dr. Bronner's, Planet FWD, Beneficial State Bank, Traditional Medicinals, Stratagem LLP, Big Path Capital, & Grounded Capital.? A very special thank you to our generous and amazing venue hosts, Dr. Nioma Narissa Sadler & Drake Sadler – these experiences don’t exist without folks like you who create physical spaces designed for human-centered connection. A Sweet Start to Ripple Fest! The TCHO Chocolate Factory Tour ?? The day before last week's #RippleFest, the OSC Packaging Collaborative had the pleasure of touring the TCHO Chocolate Factory in Berkeley, CA. The visit was a remarkable deep dive into the world of high-quality chocolate and sustainable practices. Thank you to the entire TCHO team, and especially to Josh Mohr, Laura Sweitzer, and Brett Fisher for hosting, teaching, and inspiring! Key Takeaways from the TCHO Tour: Sustainable Sourcing: TCHO Source is TCHO’s unique program establishing partners throughout their supply chain to ensure quality sourcing, and care for all people along the way. With Laura Sweitzer as their Director of Sustainability and Strategic Sourcing, this combined approach ensures that the quality of cocoa is not compromised by pricing pressures. Responsible Practices: TCHO is committed to Fair Trade Certified and certified organic ingredients, and are known for their unique natural flavor profiles. Localized Origin Roasting: 93% of TCHO's cocoa is roasted in the same country where it’s grown. This model supports local communities and keeps financial investment within the origin country, while reducing shipping weight by 20% for significant savings on shipping costs and emissions. Awards: TCHO has just won two International Chocolate Awards for their Perfect Matcha and Dirty Chai bars. Congratulations and well earned! Our time at TCHO and the subsequent community meeting helped us build momentum for the remainder of this year, and into 2025. From these experiences and discussions we move forward with renewed purpose and inspiration. Thank you to everyone who participated and contributed to making this event both enjoyable and impactful! ??????

Thanks to our waste warriors who showed up to support us in our mission to rid our communities and planet from packaging waste! (Chris Bentley Sasha Barajas Natalie Kra, MBA/MENV) If you're interested in getting your hands dirty with members of the community, stay tuned for future clean up deets!
