Today is Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR), a solemn day to reflect on the lives lost to anti-trans violence and discrimination. Each name read is a person who deserved safety, love, and the freedom to live authentically. While we mourn these losses, we also recognize the resilience and strength of the trans community, especially our trans youth & young adults. Tonight at 6pm, Trans Spectrum of Arizona and Queer Center are hosting a vigil & celebration of life for TDOR. Today begins Trans Awareness Week! Trans Awareness Week not only brings increased visibility to trans folks, but also highlights the issues the transgender community faces AND addresses those challenges. This week leads to Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR), a day to honor those whose lives were lost due to transphobic acts of violence. We’ll be celebrating Trans Awareness Week at our Youth Center and Satellites, as well as heading up to the pines for our annual Trans & Non-Binary Youth Retreat. Stay tuned for photos of trans joy in the outdoors! Allies: if you’re not able to make it to the Youth Center or a Satellite this week, please take time to find ways you can show up for the trans community AND activate on them—this week and beyond!?
