A reason to be hopeful about the future of mental health… the week I just spent at the One Mind accelerator. One Mind brought 16 of the world’s hottest mental health startups together in Menlo Park for the kick off of their 2025 accelerator. And it was a blast! Thomas Insel MD Vijay Pande, PhD, Robert Krayn , Steven Paul and many more shared super valuable insights and it was great to spend time with them and many of the founders. Huge thanks to Carmine Di Maro and the One Mind crew for putting on such a wonderful event. Currently waiting for my flight back to Australia and feeling pretty excited about what the future holds for how we understand, prevent and treat mental disorders.

Day three of the 2025 One Mind Accelerator was packed with insightful sessions and exciting networking opportunities, designed to foster collaboration and spark new ideas in the mental health and biotech spaces. The day began with an Investor Panel Discussion, moderated by Christopher Lyle, Managing Partner at Skyline Capital. The panel featured an esteemed group of investors, including Amy Kruse, PhD, Chief Investment Officer at Satori Capital, Andrew Barr, Founding Partner at GreyMatter, David Dolby, CEO of Dolby Family Ventures, and Hal Paz, M.D., M.S., Operating Partner at Khosla Ventures. The discussion focused on the unique challenges and opportunities in investing in mental health and innovative solutions, providing invaluable insights for founders seeking to navigate the funding landscape. Following the panel, each of the 16 participating companies presented their pitches to a room full of investors, sharing their visions for revolutionizing mental health care. A meet and greet followed, allowing entrepreneurs and investors to connect one-on-one, fostering potential partnerships and investment opportunities. In the afternoon, the focus shifted to the BioPharma and Medical Device Roundtable, moderated by Amit Etkin, MD, PhD, CEO and Co-Founder of Alto Neuroscience. The roundtable featured a panel of distinguished experts in the biopharma and medical device fields, including Alex Goddard, Ph.D., Director at Otsuka Pharmaceutical Companies (U.S.), Anthony Arnold, CEO & Founder of Precys, Christoph von der Goltz, MD, Corporate VP at Boehringer Ingelheim, and many more. They discussed the latest innovations in neurotechnology, the future of drug development for mental health, and opportunities for collaboration between startups and established pharma companies. After the roundtable, Kathleen M. Pike, PhD, CEO of One Mind, delivered a compelling presentation on Mental Health in the Workplace, highlighting the importance of supporting employee mental health and the role organizations play in fostering well-being. The day concluded with an energetic Improv Session led by the Stanford Improvisors, and a delightful dinner, sponsored by Alto Neuroscience, at The Stanford Park Hotel, where attendees continued to build connections and reflect on the day's impactful discussions. The 2025 One Mind Accelerator kicked off yesterday in Menlo Park, CA with a communications workshop by Educator and Author, JD Schramm, Ed.D., a Founder story by CEO & Co-Founder of Talkiatry, Robert Krayn, and a keynote speech from Vijay Pande, PhD, Founder and Managing Partner, a16z Bio + Health. The opening day also included two panel discussions: The first panel, "How Startups Can Partner With & Win For People with Lived Experience," was moderated by Jacob Robinson, PHD, CEO & Co-Founder, Motif Neurotech (and 2023 One Mind Accelerator participant) and featured speakers including Benjamin Stecher & Brian Pepin of Rune Labs, and Brandon Staglin, Jon Nelson, and Linea Johnson, MHL of the One Mind Lived Experience Council.
