We are excited to have hosted the final OneLegacy Symposium of 2024, titled “Foundations of Donation: Back to the Basics for a Better Tomorrow”, on October 23 at the Azusa Transplant Recovery Center. With over 200 attendees from 75 hospitals represented, the event provided an exceptional platform for healthcare professionals to connect, exchange insights, and reaffirm our shared commitment to saving lives through organ, eye, and tissue donation. ???? Special Thanks to Our Hospital Partners Your unwavering dedication to our mission is the foundation of our success. Together, we are making a profound impact on donor families and patients awaiting transplants. Today, we were reminded of the critical role each partner plays in closing the gap for the 21,000 individuals in California and 9,000 patients in the OneLegacy Donation Service Area awaiting their lifesaving gift. From timely referrals to compassionate family conversations, understanding the fundamentals of donation ensures that every opportunity to save lives is maximized. Key Takeaways: Referral Process: Alonzo Urita and Trevor Woolsey, MHA emphasized that prompt and accurate referrals are the first crucial step in saving lives, ensuring no potential opportunity is missed. Compassionate Family Conversations: Nathan Pelz shared best practices for approaching families with empathy and respect during their time of grief, influencing their willingness to consider donation. Donor Management: Michael Mu?oz Romero discussed strategies for maximizing organ viability, ensuring that more lives are saved with each precious gift. Organ Allocation and Recipient Qualifications: Wendy Escobedo, DNP, RN, PHN, CCTN explored the complexities behind organ allocation, ensuring each gift reaches the patients most in need. In the fast-paced world of healthcare, revisiting these foundational principles is essential for ensuring that every aspect of the donation process is carried out with excellence. Our hospital partners are key to this mission, and by embracing these basics, we strengthen the future of donation and transplantation. Looking Ahead Together, we’ve laid the groundwork for continued success in donation and transplantation, and we’re excited to apply what we’ve learned to save more lives and bring hope to more families. If you missed the opportunity to join our 2024 Symposium series, don’t worry—an exciting 2025 lineup is in the works! We were delighted to participate in and present at the 2024 Kidney/Pancreas Transplant & Nephrology Symposium organized by the UCI School of Medicine. Our presentation focused on organ donation and how our lifesaving mission is making a difference in the counties we serve. It’s always a pleasure to encounter Dr. Robert R. Redfield II and Dr. Uttam G. Reddy. In addition, being able to connect with our colleagues in the donation and transplant field is always a pleasure. We are grateful to the UCI School of Medicine for hosting such a meaningful event and look forward to future opportunities to connect, learn, and grow.

Epic keynote day, this time for OneLegacy, the nation's largest organ ??, eye ???, and tissue ?? recovery organization, serving as the region's "bridge to life", connecting donors to patients in need. Have a pink dot on your driver's license? That's them! Very humbling to be in the midst of such a large group all committed to saving lives, serving 215 hospitals, 9 transplant centers and a diverse population of 20 million folks in the region. Incredible. In advance of the keynote, we toured their headquarters in Azusa, California, and interviewed a cross section of the organization to ensure that my keynote was customized and focused on their industry. I didn't want to mess this one up! And, based on the 280 people in line for book ?? signing afterwards, I think we made successful impact together! Special thanks for the invite OneLegacy and especially CEO Prasad Garimella, Mayra Alfaro, Tom Seto, Aaron Cheng, Rechelle M., and the entire team! Jacob Green and Associates
