Jesus offers an exchange, He wants to take our ashes and turn them into a crown of beauty. He wants to take our mourning and give us radical joy. He wants to take our heavy hearts and give us hearts of praise. He wants to carry what we cannot so that we can experience the restoration that is only found in Him. We cannot be redeemed by the world, we cannot be restored in the world. Jesus is the only one with this offering. Jesus has gone before us and is prepared to provide restoration. He knows what we will face and He has gone before us and prepared something better. When we receive His offerings the verse says we will be like “oaks of righteousness.” Like an oak tree, we will be strengthened and rooted in our foundation that we know to be Jesus. We are a planting of the Lord! His righteousness is evident through our restoration and our restoration is a display of His goodness. ?? ??

Thursday Devo: Jesus is comparing his disciples to light. He calls them the “light of the world.” There is no light in the world apart from Jesus. The light of Christ is not meant to be dimmed or hidden on the earth. His light is meant to shine brightly and reach the areas that are full of darkness so that people may come to know who Jesus is. This is why we, as his followers, are so crucial to the kingdom. Just as a lamp exists to bring light to the dark areas of a room, we are to exist to bring light to the dark places on earth. The light that shines through us is not meant to glorify us or our good works, but instead give others the opportunity to see God’s goodness and grace in us. We can rest in the fact that the Holy Spirit will ignite and fuel this light source. This isn’t something produced by the flesh. Our step of obedience is another light source in a world full of darkness! In a dark room, it is hard to be guided in the right direction. Light works as guidance in order to navigate direction. When we are exposed to the light of Jesus and believe who He is and what He has done for us, He lives within us. This light that shines within us can provide others with guidance back to the feet of Jesus. Is the light that shines within you being used for guidance? Are you the only light producer in some of the groups, environments or areas in your life?

Today on the blog.. How to share the Gospel without a platform. This is a good reminder today that God uses the ordinary to do extraordinary things in His Kingdom! https://bit.ly/3Yu0T7t

The good work that the Galatians are doing will bear fruit in due time. Paul urges them to not grow tired in a time that may feel like a waiting season. Oftentimes, when we are living in accordance with God's word and will, we are expectant for the fruit we will bear and the blessing that will come?? Sometimes it's easy to let our confidence in God’s power alter our expectations for what he will do in our lives. Paul says we should not grow weary. Sometimes it is hard to feel as though our good and hard work will not bear fruit. Let’s be encouraged to remember that God works in the waiting and he sees our good works. God will allow us to see how our work is glorifying the Kingdom of God. Before we can reap, we must grow! In that season we will rely on the Lord and grow closer to Him as we trust how He will use us exactly where we are at! Lets not let our doubts affect our willingness to do work that will glorify the Kingdom of God.

In Act 20:35 the Apostle Paul was going to Jerusalem to preach the gospel and stopped at a church in Ephesus. There he encouraged the Ephesians and quoted Jesus saying “It is more blessed to give than to receive.” Paul was most concerned about the hearts of the Ephesians. Not their works, what they had to offer, or how much they would offer. Paul’s gift he gave to the Ephesians before he would leave was simply an encouraging reminder. Giving in a time of great need/change brings the community together in a beautiful way, but what about generosity in our daily routine of life? Generosity doesn't have to be extravagant or radical when we have an all powerful God. But are there family members or friends in your life that you could take intentional time to pray for? Is there a neighbor that you could assist/serve? What can you offer, sacrifice, or give today? Can you pray for your church or town? How could you pay for the strangers you see in the grocery store? What about students in local schools who need help in a class? There will always be needs that can be met in a broken world. Allow the Holy Spirit to be at work in your heart so that you would be led by Jesus in your generosity. We will come to see that as We give, We are advancing a mission larger than ourselves. Jesus will be made known and He will be glorified. As we give and sacrifice in our daily life, we are also receiving the gift of seeing our God glorified in a broken world.
