Recent regulatory updates span multiple federal agencies. The Federal Highway Administration's final rule to end the general waiver of Buy America requirements for manufactured products in highway projects is under review, with an expected December 2024 release. Meanwhile, the EPA has released a list of 27 candidate chemical substances, including benzene and lead compounds, for future prioritization under the Toxic Substances Control Act. The EPA is also addressing court comments on the expanded "Good Neighbor" requirements of the Clean Air Act, following a Supreme Court stay in June 2024. In the cybersecurity realm, the Department of Defense has published the final rule for the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) 2.0 program, updating protection standards for defense industrial base contractors with three compliance levels. The associations created this joint advocacy program to give a voice to the millions of middle market manufacturing companies and employees in the country who supply tooling, components, and other manufactured products to Original Equipment Manufacturers and their Tier I and Tier II suppliers.
