We're looking back on 10 years of One of One... ??“Have a CRY. Don’t ever let anyone tell you it is not ok to cry; it is medically proven you feel so much better after a good cry.” Jo Curran celebrated the magic of her 23-year journey running The Zoo, creating over 30,000 cherished music memories. In her March 2023 keynote, she reminded us of the power of kindness and resilience, and the lasting impact of family and caregiving. ??“Share Your Knowledge. Give Back. Be Strong. Be Talented. But most important of all … be you.” ??Find her story on our Medium https://lnkd.in/giWex_YH

关于我们
One of One is a not-for-profit, registered charity that is here to support the women and GNC people of the Australian music industry. We are lucky to work alongside so many hardworking women and GNC people. We have built an online community and we release regular spotlight interviews of women and GNC people in the music industry, with the aim of inspiring and empowering others, whether they be people who have worked in the industry for decades, those in the middle of their careers, or paving their way into the industry and wanting to connect with others.

We're looking back on 10 years of One of One... ??“Disability is something that deepens your spirit tremendously. And it turns up in every note, even when perhaps you’re singing or writing songs about other positive experiences.” Eliza Hull joined us in March 2023 to share her transformed journey; embracing her disabled identity, finding solace and strength in music, and advocating passionately for a more accessible and inclusive music industry. ??“My big dream is that there will be a young musician with disability watching the ARIA awards at home, and when they see a ramp up onto that stage they think, ‘That’s possible.’” ??Read Eliza's story on our Medium https://lnkd.in/g8yu7PJB

We’re looking back on 10 years of One of One… ??“If you are still standing in this industry you are resilient. It’s as simple as that. We’ve had to be to survive. And you really haven’t had a choice, it’s been by default.” In 2022, Mardi Caught urged us to redefine resilience, not as a relentless toughness but as a balanced adaptable strength that embraces vulnerability and supports one another. ??“Who am I if I can’t carry it all? I am just me and that is absolutely fine.” ??Read more on our Medium https://lnkd.in/gxX2P-as

We’re looking back on 10 years of One of One… ?? “My mother and my grandmothers showed me that music is innate, that melody and harmony are expressions of self, that lyrics are stories and etch themselves so deeply in our minds.” In March 2021, we celebrated International Women’s Day at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl. @gordi joined us to share their experience of resilience, transformation, and the transformative power of music. We came together to navigate not only the challenges of the global pandemic but also the profound personal and community losses we endured. ?? “No one is as capable of adapting and growing and pivoting and striving forward like women in the music industry — we have built our careers on it. It is our great privilege to gift our communities what is essential to living — music.” ?? Read more on our Medium https://lnkd.in/gCNpefeE
