Grey's NY studio is thrilled to host 16 talented creators for a four-week program focused on social media and content creation. So I recently passed the halfway mark of the One Creator Lab and it’s insane how much I have already evolved as a creator. I’ve learned a lot – not just the technical stuff like creative briefs and team dynamics, but also the big-picture mindset for a successful campaign. Here are some of the biggest takeaways for me so far: ☆ Think different, create different: Some of the best ideas come from the most unexpected places. Challenge your assumptions, explore opposite viewpoints, look for inspiration in different time periods and industries – you never know where the next viral moment is hiding. ☆ Speak their language: Content is only successful if it connects with people. Understanding your audience's needs, wants, and even anxieties is key to creating something that resonates (and boosts metrics). ☆ Data aka a creator’s informant: It might sound dry, but data really holds all of the answers and is an important tool for getting to know your audience. Without it, you wouldn’t know what’s working, what’s not, and what your audience wants more of. ☆ Niche is the new mainstream: Subcultures and niche communities are breeding grounds for trends and movements. Pay attention to them and you just might find yourself ahead of the curve. ☆ You might be good, but your team is better: I already knew collaboration was important, but this program has really emphasized the magic that happens when diverse perspectives come together. The best ideas are almost always born from teamwork. (Shoutout to my other OCL Creators <3) Feeling grateful for this program and excited to keep learning!

For the past 3 months I’ve quietly honed my content creator skills with the generous help of the The One Club for Creativity One Creator Lab. ?? While I’ve worked in social media for years, content creation was a humbling (and immensely fun!) exercise in everything I thought I knew, but actually don’t. Answering briefs from some of the industry’s best agencies and collaborating with a crew of talented, out-of-the-box thinkers has been beyond rad. Aside from learning how to edit like a semi-but-still-learning-pro, here are a few tidbits I’ll share if ever asked my opinion on the TikTok arts. ?? Solid strategy and copy are as important as ever. Moving fast is no excuse for skimming on the essentials. Viewers are smart. They’ll sniff out inauthenticity. ?? Get over seeing and hearing yourself on camera. In fact, embrace it. Lean into the awkward. Stay awhile. ?? Get weird. Be quirky. Take a first thought idea and push it into a place that feels uncomfortable. ?? Don’t overthink it. Content creation is about being in the moment. Wait too long, that moment passes. ?? Just post it already. (Highlight reel below that I'm not going to be embarrassed about)
