关于我们
One Architecture, founded in Amsterdam in 1995, is an award-winning firm that designs buildings, infrastructures and urban environments. ONE works around the globe, using design to help cities, regions and countries with their long-term spatial and infrastructure planning. Our New York office, One Architecture & Urbanism (ONE), was established in 2015 to focus on planning and resilient design. ONE is interested in process as much as in projects. Over the years, this interest has resulted in an open, collaborative, practice in which issues such as finance, organization, technology, culture and policy/politics form an active part of any work we do.

?? Inspired by the “Rainproofing New York City: Recommendations from the Working Groups” report? Join us in taking the next step toward safely adapting the city so we can safely live with more water! ?? Rebuild by Design is excited to offer $10,000 each to three NYC communities to implement new or ongoing initiatives based on recommendations or guiding principles from the Rainproof Working Groups! After all, those hazards aren’t going to mitigate themselves—we need rainboots and shovels in the ground to reduce the risk from heavy rainfall. What better way than to start with local action at the community level? ?? Find more details and instructions for how to apply here—the deadline is December 4: https://lnkd.in/ecv7gJWc ?? It was our pleasure to co-lead last week's tour of the East Side Coastal Resiliency (ESCR) project with NYC Department of Design and Construction and our collaborators at BIG - Bjarke Ingels Group, MNLA, AKRF, and HNTB! It's thrilling to see parts of this megaproject at or nearing completion, with more to come soon! ??? Thanks to everyone who joined us, and to Urban Design Forum for organizing this event! ??
We joined the project designers and engineers for a tour of the East Coast Resiliency Project yesterday. The flexible 2.4-mile-long flood barrier will protect the Lower East Side from the next big storm with elevation gain, floodwalls, berms and what will be one of the world’s largest floodgates. The project is among the largest and most technically complex infrastructure projects in New York City's history. Thank you to Eric Ilijevich (NYC Department of Design and Construction), Wendy Ho (AKRF), Travis J M B. (One Architecture & Urbanism (ONE), Molly Bourne (MNLA), Jeremy Alain Siegel, AIA, AICP (BIG - Bjarke Ingels Group) and Desiree Gazzo, RLA, ENV-SP (HNTB) for taking us around the site.?

One Architecture & Urbanism (ONE) and Rebuild by Design (RbD) are pleased to present the next steps towards Rainproofing New York City! Our new publication distills the insights and findings from the three Rainproof NYC Working Groups, in which city agency staff, experts, and community leaders collaborated from January through June of this year. “Rainproofing New York City: Recommendations from the Working Groups” builds on the original report from 2021 by exploring three topic areas and identifying actionable strategies to adapt the city to increasing rainfall, with benefits even during drought conditions. From stormwater management to housing mobility to building capacity and outreach, the report covers a wide range of recommendations to make the city more resilient for all New Yorkers. “This report represents the tough but rewarding foundation of how we can come together. Together we are working to put the foundation we created into long-lasting implementation.” Download the “Rainproofing New York City: Recommendations from the Working Groups” report here: https://lnkd.in/evcZF6S7 On the occasion of the publication of the Working Group recommendations, RbD is also thrilled to announce a new micro-grant opportunity! Three community organizations will each receive $10,000 to implement ongoing or new initiatives that address the recommendations and guiding principles from the Rainproof NYC Working Group process. Applications are due on Dec. 4, 2024—learn more at https://lnkd.in/ecv7gJWc ____ Rebuild by Design, NYC Department of Environmental Protection (NYC DEP), Matthijs Bouw, Lot Locher, Rifal Imam

The first section of the East Side Coastal Resiliency Project (ESCR) in NYC is officially complete! ???? New York City Mayor Eric Adams and the NYC Department of Design and Construction held a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the completion of Phase One of ESCR, from East 15th Street to the Asser Levy Playground. ESCR - envisioned by BIG and designed together with the AKRF-KSE Joint Venture, MNLA , One Architecture & Urbanism (ONE), Arcadis , Jacobs, and others - will reduce flood risk for more than 110,000 New Yorkers, critical infrastructure, and hundreds of acres of Lower Manhattan. The project will implement raised parkland, floodwalls and gates, and improved recreational facilities and waterfront accessibility into the design of 70+ acres of new public space. ESCR’s entire 2.5-mile project area is located within the FEMA 100-year floodplain and spans from Montgomery Street to East 25th Street along the East River in Manhattan. Phase One was completed two months ahead of schedule and $10 million under budget. Read more about ESCR here: https://loom.ly/nCPXGjo ?? Now's your last chance to catch the International Architecture Biennale Rotterdam (IABR) 2024, Nature of Hope, at the Nieuwe Instituut before it closes this Sunday, 13 October! Among the many talented exhibitors, ONE is pleased to present?"Soil for Well-Being," which explores the intricate physical and social relationships between soil conditions and prosperity in Tuindorp Oostzaan in Amsterdam. The project also investigates how poor soil conditions, which are prevalent in many socially challenged neighborhoods in the Netherlands, are exacerbated by climate change, imposing an unjust burden on vulnerable communities at a national scale. Nature of Hope will be on view for five more days—learn more here: https://bit.ly/iabr2024 ____ ??Jacqueline Fujikschot
