At ONCE by Signify, it’s important we get the most accurate and detailed data that can inform product development and the commendations we provide farmers. Thankfully, we have partners like researcher Rodania Bekhit with Wageningen Livestock Research who helped develop a chicken tracking algorithm, allowing us to gain insight into the preference of chickens that has proven crucial in developing light conditions that meet the needs of the birds and improve broiler and layer welfare on farms. Learn more about this research and how AI can help improve the welfare of your animals. ?? ?? #aiinagriculture #agricultureresearch #animalwelfare #animallighting https://lnkd.in/gKwD-Hkz

We recently conducted research ?? exploring how fast-growing and slower-growing broilers responded to different lighting conditions based on their age, activity, and feeding habits. ?? This research highlights the importance of dynamic lighting systems in poultry farming, ensuring birds get the right light at the right time for healthier and more comfortable living conditions. And, how allowing chickens to move between different light conditions can improve boiler welfare and optimize growth. At ONCE by Signify, we’re constantly putting our products through a series of stringent tests to ensure they truly are making a difference for your farm and its animals. A case in point is our BioShift UVC chamber, which has been tested against viruses and bacteria that cause disease and infection across the agriculture industry and can cause significant economic loss to farmers and potentially affect human and animal health. The results of our research show that the BioShift chamber is a powerful tool for biosecurity and disease prevention across the agriculture industry, reducing all viruses and bacteria by 99%! #agricultureindustryresearch #uvclight #animaldiseaseprevention #biosecurity https://lnkd.in/guCGiJFr

Professor Karen Christensen with the University of Arkansas and now Senior Director of Animal Welfare at Tyson Foods has been partnering with Once by Signify - Lighting for Animals on research demonstrating that when given a choice in light intensities, chickens preferred to eat in the bright light and then move to dimmer areas to feel safer and rest. “Our studies have found that poultry prefer brighter light intensity when they are young, and a gradient of light intensities as they get older,” says Professor Christensen. “This provides the birds with a bit of control over their environment and choices. Gradient lighting is the future for broiler farming as you can give the birds a choice in lighting environment.” Discover what this can mean for your farm and how it’s transforming the poultry industry. #animallighting #poultryindustry #animalhealth #animalproductivity https://lnkd.in/gpDy5WMK

The poultry industry must adopt sustainable practices to address environmental concerns. And our Field Support Quality Engineer T. Pitcher Seagrist explores how in his Modern Poultry article. “Research has shown that using different lighting spectra in the barn can lead to improved bird behavior, which indicates better animal welfare and performance,” he writes. “By using high-efficiency LED-connected lighting solutions, such as that developed by ONCE by Signify, the industry can continue to reduce its carbon footprint, improve animal welfare, and improve feed conversion.” Read the full article to learn more. ?? ?? #animallighting #ledlighting #sustainability #agricultureindustryresearch https://lnkd.in/gsGJED6A
