Sometimes it's not the spectrophotometer but the solvent. 🤯 Water, methanol, chloroform— name a solvent and learn its UV cutoff before using it for a measurement which demands that everything be optimal. Take CD, circular dichroism. Countless experimenters have been frustrated by poor data below their preferred lower wavelength limit. It's easy to blame the instrument. But look first at your solvent.
